I hope that works for him but I doubt it by the look of them, I wish mine were that easy.

wow, i thought that you always washed your car...No one ever touches my car except for me.

You can try to get the spots off with solution with vinegar soap and water.

Good luck man.

Almost always true, except I'm stuck in Pasadena for the summer with no good place to wash it myself and no tools etc. Obviously in hindsight I would've just left it dirty until I could take it home, too late now

I wanted to, but I kept my cool and now the manager is being professional about it. I couldn't believe my eyes, but it was clear to me that the car washer guy did not understand the meaning of the word "only" i.e. "only soap and water"

sorry but you're wrong, clearcoat is severely damaged. This is no "stain" this is "damaged clearcoat"

I am well aware of the difficulty with maintaining bare aluminum wheels. I believe Albert (farenheit350) has done this and I don't care to follow in his footsteps.

I am strongly leaning towards getting the barrels chromed with black chrome.

Ask to speak with Chris Young. He is very knowledgable and honest. If he cant do what you are looking for Im sure he can refer you to someone who can.

Good luck with it.

These are forged aluminum, right?

How about anodizing the surface? They can sparkle like new after with the right treatment and post anodize prep work (polishing).

And you have actually tried some polish to verify this? I am a professional detailer and have seen this many many times. I suggest try some polish. It may look damaged to the inexperienced eye, but it might just be just on the surface of the clearcoat. You can easily take a few layers off the clearcoat on any paint or car to remove defects.

Sorry to hear this bro. I would try some of the cleaning methods first before I worried about chroming or polishing.

Your in Pasadena...go to eagle rock (5 minutes away) and there is a coin-operated do-it-yourself car wash with shade. I used to take my cars there...but now I have a truck so a regular car wash will do.

Its called "Laser Wash" or something, on Colorado blvd.

VELVET TOUCH WHEEL REPAIR. they will drive to you if need be, they are all around the southern cali area. They just totally repaired my time attack TE37. They had to straighten the hell out of the wheel, re-powder coat the wheel flat black while keeping tempature under 275 so it doesnt ruin forged wheels, and repaint the gloss red lip. the end result was amazing, looks literally like a brand new wheel, there is no difference at all. THey do work on ferrari, porsche, audi etc.

repairmywheels.com is their website, number is: 949-8366164, ask for MIKE, and tell him Brandon with the volk wheels sent you.

You want it to get it stripped from the old clear and get it recleared professionally. The clear will hold up way better than any rim manufacture. Too bad you can't take the lips off. Having it dipped in chrome is the best way to and the easiest maintenence.
They are 2pc and the only way to fix it will be to take them apart and have them repolished and clear coated. This place does great work for a great price with approx 2days turn around and less than $100 per rim. They can also chrome dip the lip or Black Chrome if you prefer, though I assume it is more expensive then clear coat and if you Chrome you will have to do them all $$$$$ clear coat and you only need do one.

Wheel Repair Specialists, INc. Santa Ana, 714-973-1741. I need to go back and have them repolish and clearcoat my front passenger rim. Here is a pic of the rim after they worked on it last. Keep in mind, I didnt have them clearcoat it the first time so it stains and scratches real easy, hence why I am going back for clearcoat. Also, keep in mind that when they polish it, you will no longer have the the Seamless Forged Challenge on the lip anymore, small price to pay for a rim that looks brand new again.

OK so tru wheel basically says that chrome is a bad idea, because it is likely to crack, and they can't clearcoat them, because the clearcoat won't stick to polished aluminum...

so I guess I am going to get them polished (strip coating off the lip) and try to keep them waxed all the F-ing time

In any case they sounded pretty knowledgable about volks... they knew that no one in Cali can do the anodization coating, and I will probably take the wheels there.

I was quoted $120 over the phone, per wheel...
