Default Things to do in Malibu

I'm meeting up with a (female) friend in a couple weeks, before school starts for me again and I won't have enough time to hang out with her. We're thinking of hanging in Malibu. Can anyone suggest a cool place for dinner that's not too expensive? Also, after dinner, we're thinking bar/lounge, but I'm thinking it might not be a bad idea to explore less conventional after-meal activities. I was considering maybe a salsa bar, but that might not be so great right after dinner.

How much are you looking to spend? I like Nobu and Inn of the Seventh Ray. They're a little on the pricey side, but solid choices.

As far as after dinner activities, I don't think there's too many choices in Malibu. Maybe a walk on the beach, then make the drive out to Santa Monica, West LA, Hollywood or the other surrounding neighborhoods. You list downtown LA as your location, so I'm sure you're familiar with the area.

Well, personally I'd like to spend as close to under $10 as possible, but since my friend has no Y chromosomes, and is a bit of a foodie, I may have to settle for keeping it under $20-25/plate.

I've only been living in LA for about 2 years, so any help would be much appreciated.

I'd say take sunset to PCH and drive up that way, and see if any of the smaller restaurants along the coast look good. Other than that, Malibu is pretty quiet aside from some more expensive places ($30/per person +) So maybe drive back down PCH into santa monica, park, and walk around there. much more going on.

PS- salsa dancing? you must be one adventurous party animal LOL
PPS- wait...who has a Y chromasome? I always forget if its men or women? Both have X, right?

Salsa dancing was just something that popped into my mind as something different from an ordinary night out.

And women don't have Y chromosomes.

Salsa dancing sounds like a cool idea. I don't know any specific places around the area, but lots of places have classes in the beginning and it turns into a club afterwards.

go to moonshadows. It's a very cool low-key bar/club that in this weather is always poppin'. Dukes for dinner is a great idea too, I strongly suggest you buy her if you do go to dukes the hawaiian iced tea liquor drink, it's sooo strong, it'll get good times rollin' in real quick. If you're into just the sites, a pch drive down towards santa monica is always cool, and stop by santa monica pier and get on a few rides is always fun.

Moon Shadows sounds like it could be fun. I dunno how adventurous she might be in terms of drinks, but she's coming in from Camarillo, so it wouldn't be good for her to get trashed. Besides, she's in a wine phase these days.

I'd be happy to meet up with you and Brad some time, without the excess estrogen.

(likes curry)

Oh yeah, ended up going to Taverna Tony, based on a recommendation from a different thread. Heading back to LA, PCH was closed at one point, so I hadda take a detour. Finally got to drive Sunset; 'twas fun!
