Default Hate this (fender bender pic)

Changing lanes on the N405 yesterday morning on the way to work. For some reason I didn't bother checking my mirror. Up comes a land yacht, big old Ford LTD, we just barely touched. I was tempted to blow it off but pulled over anyway. He had surface scratches on the rear driver's side door but didn't care.

My damage below. First body shop I went to said the fender should be replaced because it is buckled slightly just to the rear of the rear most border of the headlight. He said it would be so much work to get it right that it would be better to just replace. You can see it in this pic.

Said the bumper is probably ok to keep, just need to straighten out / replace the support brack underneath. Would have to blend the hood and the p-side door...

All things considered, freeway, crowded morning traffic etc, it's no big deal. The other driver was totally cool, we parted on good terms, no claims, no beefs, no hassle.

I still need to go to other places. This was a high end place that had nothing but Mercedes in the lot.

Any input on the fender and shops in the LB / Southbay area is welcome.

It was your fault, how were you just going to blow it off?

That's kind of a funny thing to say... I was tempted to be a criminal, but I just didn't bother to today?!

Sorry you messed your car up.

Good point but it was just a thought / feeling of frustration.. I didn't act on it. Actually may hold off on the repair so I get to see it as a reminder for awhile. But that was my first thought to be honest. I don't think I would have had the same thought process if the other car had not been a total beater that had more damage all around it already. Not that excuses me or anyone but, well, there it is. I'm less than sterling in my character, I've donned my flame retardent suit and a CO2 bottle is within reach, flame away...

Looks like you just need to pull out the fender. slap on a DECAL there and it will cover up the scrapes

Thanks.

I bet that happens alot... people get pissed off, want to do something hurtful, they talk to someone else first, like a friend or whatever, the friend says it's wack and they decide to let it go and do the right thing or not do the wrong thing...

Yeah, thanks. Just bought that two days before this happened. The original was wacked from some other carelessness back in the early part of this year.
The Hawk pads have considerably less dust than the stock and I wash the car pretty much every week.
