Smile Dyno Video from the 12/1 Dyno Day & BBQ @ JER

I had a great time at this (my first) dyno day. Ed was wicked cool to finally meet, Peter was a fudging riot, the Silvia crowd was all very welcoming and helped me learn a lot about their cars, the Lexus dude was great to talk to, and the JER staff was all very accommodating to my idiotic questions.

I stuck around most of the day...mainly to see the late-arriving-Joe's APS TT run. You'll catch one at the end of my self-loving video. Holy freaking crap!! And the JER guy said this was much less than previous output due to a rebuilt turbo or something.

Of course I only processed my own vids so far but here's the first I have. Typically my POS digicam works really well (especially in-car)...but for some reason it looks like crap this time.

(Can someone please tell me how to embed this video?...I've searched!)

I have some clips of the Charger SRT8(? what # is this?) but need some time to convert the files. Besides that I don't have anything else worth posting. Most of you missed Joe's runs though...which put the Charger's hero status (~330whp) to SHAME.

Sweet vid bro...this is the comparo from before and after the turbos were
rebulit....GTM's dynojet vs. JER's heartbreaker DD....

Before Rebuilt: DynoJet: 545rwh, 500trq -13psi
DynoDynamics:450rwh, 500trq -13psi

After Rebulit: DynoJet: 535rwh, ?trq - 14psi
DynoDynamics: 430rwh, 530trq -14psi

These new rebuilt jobs obviously lose out a little..but it feels like it spools faster and in alot more responsive at the lower rpms...cool vid none the less and good burgers and dogs.

Crom, I know that DD reads a little lower than DJ but damn 100whp lower? I wanted to get my car dyno'd yesterday at JER but I had to work and compare it to GTM DynoJet.

Yea I know....a little strange for sure - I'd love to see someone else boosted comparisons that have been to both.

But then again those are just #'s if your car runs great that's all it matters.

Hey just wanted to stop by and say hi.

I had the black sc300. I ended up putting down 162hp (185 torque). The car comes with 220hp . I had 2 power dips. Most likely from the need to do the 90k and spark plugs.

I had fun.

219?? hmm thats odd....your description says you have jwt intake and borla dual exhaust.....

I have jwt intake and high flow cats....and my best run was 225.

Does having aftermarket rims make a big difference to numbers? It shouldnt be that much right?

How big were your rims?

Oh BTW, I went to JER before the setup date. Maybe the weather made a difference?

I have 18" Enkei's (245/40 & 275/40) so they shouldn't be too much of a factor. I have my OEM cats so maybe those are restrictive enough that your hi-flows are more efficient than my exhaust? I dunno. You have an 03?

I'm ok with the #'s but I can't seem to give non-Z people a good explanation for what is accounting for ridiculous drivetrain loss (24% not including mods). Regardless of dyno, that's wicked high.

technosmurf - Hey, welcome. It was nice chatting with you and FWIW I learned a lot by just seeing your dyno chart and hearing the shop owner's explanation.

Man, my best run is only 210.

I have a non-rev up engine and everything stock. I am pretty disappointed with the number. But now at least I get a baseline dyno number. I can put some mod on in the future and go back to do another dyno run and hopfeully see some improvement on the number.

I have an 04. but I did the dyno with the OEM 17s. lol. I now have 19s on it and i wanna redyno to see if the rims made a big difference.....I know it shouldnt but I've seen cases where they have.

I saw a supercharged 350z from GTM that made around 360ish with oem 17s. that Z now has 20's and redynoed at Roughly 280 or less,

I know that Dyno Dynamics and Dyno Jet make different #'s but it shouldnt be that BIG.

So is your exhaust setup Y-back or Cat back?

So they had the AC on for your dyno and that girl last night said I'm getting all hot and sweaty.

Petter I think something about your car makes people uncomfortably hot.
