Rant/advice
whats goin on everyone.. im from g35driver, and we have a "general discussion/ off topic" forum and i was lookin for one on here..
but anyhow,
someone hit my parked car on the 1st of february at my work parking lot (yes, someone hit a parked car
)
we both backed in to our spot (his tundra on the left, my G on the right, of course i was there first, and he must have miscalculated his right turn while trying to leave his spot and hit my NISMO front end, left fender, killed my turn signal, and headlight.
my wheels were straight when i parked, and when i went out there they were turned all the way to the right
luckily, the guy who hit me had the decency to come into my work and announce it (man was i pissed when i heard it on the overcom..
) and it wasnt a hit-n-run. also, luckily, it was at my work where i park right under the parking lot camera so i have video footage of the accident.
and i got ALL his info copied. not to mention his insurance card provided was expired!
NOW, the guy who hit me wants to be completely responsible for the damage and is willing to pay for it all.
i was advised by the bodyshop to go through my insurance to prevent headaches in the long run-- you cant trust anyone these days, although he was very sympathetic and apologetic. i received 2 different quotes, one for my insurance, as they get a "discount" and one for out-of-pocket costs.
the bodyshop told me to go through my insurance, and have my deductible waived as it wasnt my fault. plus his insurance is allstate, which the bodyshop quotes "they want us to use used parts/aftermarket for repairs"
what would yall do in this situation? go straight to insurance or give the guy a chance? all input/suggestions are appreciated..
and here's a pic so i dont get any "this thread is useless without pics"

Sounds like you car have moderate damages. Go thru your insurance to save yourself some headache down the road. People might be sympathetic and apologetic in the beginning, but once they find out the amount of damages, that's when the headache begin. This is base on my personal experience. GL.
^^ +1.... Let your insurance deal with it. I had a friend who had a raised Tundra with 35" wheels and did the same thing but his right rear wheel climbed my front bumper and ripped it off!!! YIKES!!! GL OP.

i got hit by a soccer mom in a ford expidition in my GSX a few years back, similar damage. was $2000 in damage so i bet itll be around $4k to fix that so i'd recommend going through insurance
insurance. and make sure u go to a body shop that wont rip u off. claim all oem parts for insurance quote and buy replicas of oem parts for less and keep the difference. ive seen it happen.

I would say give him a deadline. If he doesn't meet the deadline, try going through HIS insurance company for the damages (Unless CA is a non-fault state). If that's not an option, or if his company is giving you a hard time, go with your company and eat the deductable for the time being. Be prepared to wait months or years to get that deductable back, and that's IF your company gets the money.
