Considering Buying a Z

I guess right now Im looking at a hardtop for sure, no more roadster for me. Seems liek Z's have enough issues as is, and the top just adds to it. Plus Im somewhat of an audiophile and the roadster interior doesnt seem fit for a setup I would want. I really like the stealth box in the back, and with the top down I think that would really kill some bass.
So now Im looking at 04-05s, or 07-08.
Honestly all I want is:
HID's
LSD
Navi.
I could care less for the Bose, leather seats, or Brembos. The one I test drove today had cloth seats and they feel WAY more snug and comfy than my friends 2004 Grand Touring's seats. Its like an option for Slip N Slide..in your car hahaha.
I wont be getting the car for another week, or two, so hopefully I will have educated myself by then, lots to cover. Im somewhat of an aggresive driver, so I dont want any tranny issues. I will be occasionally taking the car to the track for road racing, no drag. I downshift & engine brake on the daily, so I really want something that I wont have to take back to the dealership to cover.
Thanks for everything so far guys, keep the posts coming...

Dude. I dont even know anymore. I just got through reading several pages of the RevUP Oil Consumption thread...and at this point I dont even know if I want a Z anymore..but this only applied to 05-06 correct? Nonrevup engines didnt have tihs issue, and 07+ has been corrected right?
Im still reading some pages to see if the 07 and 08's had this issue corrected...

The 08's don't have the slave problem. Only the early 07's. The manual 06's and 35 anniv 05 with the rev have oil problems. Auto's do not. 03's have tranny issues but most have been fixed and some have tire feathering issues. Plus they also have a lot less power. For overall just get the 08 with the extended warranty. Remember that these cars only come with 36k mile warranty and everything after that is not covered. So its best just to stick with an 07-08. I almost did but ended up getting an 06 figuring it was cheaper but overall the 07-08's are more responsive, the motor is much better, and designed a little better. They are all good but its always best to just get a new car.
hahaha u guys dont get it. My situation is this. I need to trade in the IS300 to a dealership which I could get roughly $10K for cuz of high mileage. My budget is wthin the 23K-25K range, so if I get an 08 it will be a base without HIDs or LSD, and I do NOT want that. So Im looking for an 04 or an 07 right now to see what my options are...

Ok just to put it straight. In internet forums, people who are seeking issues to problems congregate here (which is a part of their purpose). Honestly, I don't feel our cars have more problems than others. When I had my eclipse and I went to internet forums, people were on there screaming eclipses are the most reliable cars ever! I did not experience a single issue with my eclipse including after adding an aftermarket turbo kit, 1000 mile commutes to and from school. I owned the car for more than 5 years and it has never been in the mechanic when I got it with 60000 miles including 2 years in, I installed an aftermarket turbo kit on my NA eclipse.
People talk as though the Zs are the most unreliable cars ever, akin to a pinto. My Z has been very reliable for the past 2 years I've owned it and I commute 300 miles each week, and I've put 33000 miles in a year and a half (I got it with 19500 miles). It doesn't burn oil. Here is another myth of the Z if you read through the forums. A myth on here other than (every Z has oil consumption problem) is the Z are apparently hydroplaning machines... I have a base, No traction control system... I've never spun in a turn because I AM CAREFUL IN THE RAIN. I've never hydroplaned because I don't drive 80miles per hour in pouring rain, and I have summer performance tires. Our traction in the rain has nothing to do with the car, its the driver. My car doesn't burn oil and I have never added oil to my car ever. I do all the maintenance by the way so I know my car.
To the original poster, test drive the car, push the pedal and enjoy. I know I was grinning like a kid the first time I drove a Z (auto, back then I did not know how to drive a manual) but know I'm skilled with the manual transmission. Its a great car that lets you feel more of the road progressively the higher speeds you go. You can pretty much control the turn in radius on corners with your right foot on the gas and can control intentional slides at will with a flick of the wrist on the wheel and your right foot. It truly inspires confidence when you are driving. To top it off, it gets good mileage if you watch your right foot. I get 24mpgs since I switched to synthetic oil and I drive moderately aggresive with a mixture of 60 percent hwy and 30 percent city. With all highway, I can get close to 27-28. If you have cruise control (I for one don't since I am a base model), you'll get more.
My only complaint with my base model are... The doors don't lock and unlock automatically, and I wish I had cruise for purposes of gas mileage. Other than that, I love my Z!!! Some times I just look at it and think, wow thats a beautiful angle. So I'm happy with my Nissan 350z.

If thats the case. IMO i would just get the 04-05 enthusiast model. And then get aftermarket navi. Although the 287 engine has less horsepower....Keep in mind that it has more torque then the 06-07's. I did some spirited driving with a buddy of mine who has a 07 and I pulled on him. Even though it was not much but I was ahead 1/2 Car length haha. On top of that the 04-05s dont have the chicken box hood. I think it looks funny. But to each his own.
With whatever you decide to do, I hope that you'll love your Z, because I sure as hell love mine. =]
Well exterior looks dont matter much, aftermarket will be on its way. Im hoping to get my car to look the way I want it to within the first 100 miles I rack up on the car.
I already have a fully built Alpine system Im transfering over to the Z from my IS300, and Im selling my Volk GTVs for some Time Attack TE37s. Full Vizage kit with the Nismo V2 wing. Done deal. Dual Popchargers, X02 Exhaust, and Im done, hopefully within 500 miles. Just a daily cruiser.
I went to another dealership today, Superior Nissan of Puente hills..and this is what they offered.

On top of that, Puente Hills Superior Nissan is offering me lifetime replacement of tires. That way when I get my Time Attacks, if I use OEM tires I still have lifetime Road Hazard thrown in for free...dang. SOOO TEMPTINGGGG.....
im stressing hardcore..and im nervous..and excited hahah. damnit Ive never owned a brand new car before lol.

yeah I redid the chart so it shows what prices Im getting....pretty good hahah. Different dealerships giving me different prices so this chart displays it better

Enthusiast is the way to go since I want cloth seats anyways and Im going aftermarket navi...lol. No point in paying $5K extra for navi and brembos...
Dude Im so tempted lololol. BTW I live by Puente Hills mall..I live up the street from BuffDaddy, he's on here too...
