Just curious, why Vegas?

I ask because I picked mine up in Vegas too back in February, but I wanted a specific color and trim combinaiton which I couldn't find here. Frankly, if I had to do it over again, given the extra DMV paperwork and smog hassle, I would either wait for the right combo to show up or I'd just order one.

BTW, if you're going to drive it back, unless you have clearbra, watch out for that desert sand. I would hate to see you get pits on your bumper, headlights and windshield from day one! I had mine dropped off in a covered trailer.

Well, I really wanted a Le Mans in Base model, not being that wealthy, and after having several dealers search their nissan inventory, the only one I could find was in vegas. It has some kind of protective coat over the paint already. Also, it was a good excuse for me to get out of town for two days and have some fun in vegas.

I also wanted to put a few miles on my car with out stressing the engine out, I heard that 1200 miles is about the break in point.

I could have ordered one, but it just seemed like the right thing to do, im also getting a free window tint out of the deal.

Any tips on breaking my new Z in would be welcome.

First off, welcome to the club!!!

On your drive back... remember to vary the RPM. Don't keep it at a constant ie. by using the cruise control. Don't push it above 4000 RPM. What I used to do on the freeway was... cruise 75-80 MPH on 6th gear... then ease off the accelerator and get down to 60 MPH, where I would shift to 5th gear.

Also, I would be wary of this "protective coat" that the dealer claims the car already has. If I were you, I would take a bra with me there... or at the very least... get it waxed in Vegas before the trip.

Have fun.

If you haven't left yet, and want to borrow a nose mask for the drive back, let me know.

Vary the RPM - very important.

Also, I heard you're not supposed to wax it for awhile to let the paint cure properly? I could be wrong.

Wow you're like the only other person that heard about that. I wonder really why you can't wax your car?

its fine to wax your car as soon as you get it, there is no problem. in fact i actually did a clay-bar when my car first arrived. i was able to take of the shipping grease and the impurities in the paint before they had time to settle in. no probs with my paint.

congrats on your purchase!!

Well, I got it. I didnt push it very hard, even though the dealer told me it didnt matter. I tried to keep to rpms between 3000 and 4000, mixing it up a bit.

The only problem I had was a fu*king semi truck blew one of its back tires and a large piece of tire rubber flew over 300 yeards bounced off my bumper, and again off my roof, leaving 2 small rubbler marks. We managed to get the rubber off with wet toilet paper, and there was no scratches. Man would I have been pissed if it had.

I will now be looking into getting some kind of clearbra, any one have any advice? or should I just search this forum.

Any other advice for breaking in my new car?

I live in Aliso Viejo, and work in Laguna Beach. So far I have only seen one other Z in the area since I got mine. Very odd, thought I would see more around, and this guy didnt even wave or nod or any thing. In fact he wouldnt even look at me, odd.

Smile Morphiend U Came to the right place - Welcome

Morphiend

My instructor in my Cisco training class said "there are no stupid questions" there are only "Stupid Answers"

Therefore - Fire away - Collectively there are partys on this board that can answer authoritively - the answer to your question, and if that is not final, a different View by a different Authority. Ha!

Have a good time as we have over the previous months...

Welcome Aboard !

Cheers Amy -
