Default Burning Oil dilemma (local Nissan dealership)

Hai guiz!

I took my Z to my local dealership (Torrance) to get it tested for oil consumption. However the service manager told me that before Nissan can replace the motor I'd have to remove my headers and replace them with the stock ones.

I told the service manager that was a bit silly from Nissan to think that aftermarket headers would cause on in some way affect the oil consumption results. Have you guys had this or something similar to what's happening to me?

thanks!

Dealership wont shell out money easily. Im surprised they didnt void your warranty from seeing the headers......Had that happen to me once. Just put the stocks back on 250 in labor is cheap for a new motor

right on sir. Thanks for the help. 250 labor is what the dealer charged you to put on the old headers on?

right on broda! yeah the cops are everywhere. lol

I will try the other dealer before I do anything. My headers are Crawford headers and I'm not so sure they are smog legal.

They probably need to take pictures so they can warranty the motor. Seeing it with aftermarket headers would throw up a red flag...they are helping you out!

My 2K6 has oil consumption too but is no longer under factory warranty, i do have extended warranty on it, anyone know if that would be covered? When you guys say they replace the motor, does it mean they replace it with a brand new one or a rebuilt one? any feedback is greatly apreciated.

I don't think it’s a warranty issue, I think it was a recall, I received a brand new engine.

The motor is under the powertrain warranty not bumper to bumper. 4 year 70k mile drivetrain warranty. You should still be good.

And Mario hit up John at Perf nissan. He will take care of you.

John Kuo is the man. He's taken care of my car very well. Tell him you know Julian with the gray Veilside Z as well. It will probably help.
