just an idea of what to expect going this route (sorry for the spelling and grammar of the names of the roads )

Either direction the group wants to go will work. I can already tell you on an early Saturday afternoon yurba buena will be light to medium traffic. Once you cross from yurba to decker expect medium traffic, then from decker to muholland usually medium high during the day there alot of casual motor cyclist that make the crossing. There are a couple small wineries along that road and its fast flowing but still it can get crowded.
Once you get to the lookout or what we call snake the infamous 2.1 mil road i used to run tough in the middle of the night during my younger dummer days of driving it will become very busy and have a high volume of traffic, but once you pass the rock museum your golden. You follow whats left of muholland to las vergenas which should be low to medium traffic once again expect the causal Sunday driver. once you turn onto piuma its usually practically empty not to many people make the effort to go over there and iv never seen any cops on that road during the day or night most people don't like how technical it can get from piuma all the way to through tuna back to PCH should be pretty empty expect the causal driver that lives there to the more aggressive Sunday driver enthusiast looking for fun in the twisty's, although from piuma to tuna it breaks down to a two way road with virtually one unmarked lane, through a heavy residential area. Once you pass all that tuna is a fun one way canyon back to PCH just be careful its steep at some points but since its just a cruise and not aggressive driving you shouldn't have to worry about your brakes.
note expect a patrol car on snake do to its popularity and number of people acting stupid on it there's usually one posted up there

idk about anybody else but since PCH will have traffic either way and i prefer to cruise thru the high traffic areas and finish clean vs high traffic to low traffic to high traffic which is what you'll get if you take the canyons to neptune's back down PCH
just my two cents

Bump ftw

one last suggestion is meet around 1:30ish leave. By 2-2:30 to accompdate for traffic and the longer canyon route should still be at the BBQ by 530

when i run these canyons i usually start between 8am - 10am and that is usually pretty good.... i would think the afternoon traffic would be pretty bad...

then again, i usually run the canyons on my off fridays in the morning so...

Whenever we create Malibu we meet up "late" cause majority of us have school/work. Like I have payroll to do in morning so afternoon only works for me. For those who have plans and need to bounce early thats perfectly fine, the rest of us will just have more to grub on

^right thats totally understandable... i would just think that there be traffic running the canyons that late and getting stuck behind slow a$$ people on a nice twisty road is sooooooo annoying
