Robert, there is no need to take it to a detailing shop. All u need to do is buff each headlight with a lil bit off Crest pro health toothpaste and scratch out liquid chemical they sell at Auto zone D make sure to grab a buffing pad before you walk out the storeD

I'd offer to clear up your headlights for you but I haven't gone as far as wetsanding the lenses yet.

So far, I've had really good results with either:
1. Meguiar's PlastX - Good for semi-routine cleaning of contamination build up.
2. Machine polish - done when I detail the entire vehicle.

Is it bad enough to have to wet sand? If it's not too far gone, a couple applications of PlastX should work.

try headlight restoral (innovative detailing). it's my buddy's dad who runs the business, and he buffs, polishes, UV coats your headlights so it doesn't fade/yellow again, and then wetsands and polishes the UV finish so that the headlight looks brand new.

if you have a power drill handy, you can get the headlight refinishing kit @ Kragen or Pepboys for like $30. its a polishing ball with the Plasti-X type compound.

just hit the headlight for 15 minutes back n forth with the polishing ball and viola. done.

The kits are very good. Especially the 3M kit. I would add one final step though. Using the sponge tool, polish with Meguiars Plastix. It gives a better polish on plastic than any other polish/rubbing compound I've tried (including what comes in the 3M kit which is pretty good).

^^^ yep those work good. I dont think it last very long though so you may need to redo it like every 3 months or so. Mine will haze a little every once in a while. Just do the polishing with a drill then wax should look good afterwards

after you use one of those store bought kits you should take some sealant like:

Klasse All in Wonder grey bottle gloss. Follow that up with any high-quality wax.

Keep re-applying the sealant and after every wash.

here's mine after my first wet sand 1000 to 2000 grit wet sand. I also used a porter cable and rubbing compounds.

my z has never seen a garage. So after 6 years the sun has been brutal. Thank god for orbital / rotary buffers.

I should also say that after wet sanding the beam patter and overall light output has noticeably improved

Nice sometime I wish I have a small buffer because I think I can work the hard to reach part much easier
