Thumbs up Weather Still Lookin Good!

I think this will end up being the first post on Page 3 of posts...

Weather report continues to show Mostly Sunny, 71 degrees...excellent driving conditions!

Reminders:

Remember to bring your FRS (aka Motorola Talk-about) Radios. If you don't have any, stop by a Walmart, you can get one for $10-20.

See below for a bit more detailed instructions on how to get to the meet location:

Directions to Meet Place (Please show up around 9AM, drive starts exactly at 9:30AM Saturday 5/8):
We will meet at the Gas Station on Hwy 76 right next to the Pala Casino at 11154 Highway 76 (East of the 15 about 5.5 miles). If using Mapquest or your onboard PC, put PALA as the city rather then San Diego. The Casino and gas station is on the Right. The Gas Station is right before the casino. It is hard to miss the Casino as it is huge and has a few big flashing signs. I’ve got directions below:

From LA/OC near Hwy 5: Take 5 South to Hwy 76 which you take for about 23 miles East total (you will cross the 15, then about 5.5 miles later reach our meeting place). As this freeway has many stop lights, it takes a little bit longer to travel then the 23 miles suggests.

From LA/OC near Hwy 15: Take 15 South to Hwy 76 which you take for about 5.5 miles East.

From San Diego: If near Hwy 8, take 8 to 15, take 15 North, then take Hwy 76 East for about 5.5 miles.

From San Diego/North County: Hwy 78 to 15 N to 76 E is a good route to the meet location.

7:15??? Are you crazy?! They're meeting at 9:00. It takes 45 to an hour to get there from La Paz, unless you plan on getting breakfast. Haha I'd like to see you get up that early. But then you'll probably leave me behind..... Oh well, at least you can get 100 octane.

Han,
Maybe 7 would be better, I noticed Bryan said to be there at 9. I thought 9:30. So do think it would be better to meet at 7, so we have some time to get there. Let me know what u think.

It seriously only takes like half an hour to get down to Oceanside then 20-30 minutes east. I don't think there would be any traffic that early on a Saturday yet. Plus everyone drives at least 80mph heading down there, and there are always nice cars we run into. I guess it does depend on how fast we drive, and with a large group it might take longer. I'll let you guys decide on the time though since I won'be driving (my Z has crap brakes).

It just depends on traffic on the 76fwy is all. I think once we meet at the 76 and wait for all to get there, we won't head out till 15-25 after anyway. I think were ok.

There's no traffic on the 76 either. It's a highway. The first half of it is like 3 or so lanes with the beginning of it going through empty shopping centers. Speed limit is 55 or 60. It becomes a 2 lane highway (semi-twisty) for about 10 minutes or so until you get to Pala.

I'll see what my schedule looks like for tomorrow. It sounds like it might be a pretty cool run. Just a bit far to get there.

Han, I'll call you tonight to let you know if I'll make it or not.

I think that meeting at the Unocal at 7:15-30 will be just about right. Hwy 76 can take a while to get across because of all the lights and 5south on a saturday can be unpredictable. Erica is alseep the whole damn way so to her it seems like a 15 minute drive...

If we do manage to haul *** and get there really early, we can win some gas money at the casino =)

Default Fun Run

Thanks everyone for a good run. Lots of first timers for Palomar in the group this time. We had about 10 cars: 7 Z's, 1 Roadster, 2 G's. Got several good runs in the twisties! Perfect skies, decent but warm weather, enjoyed it greatly. Again, thanks for a fun and safe drive!

Now to the pics!
