Last time I went only those who paid to race got into the lot with everybody else. The rest parked in one of the lots before the strip. Maybe I missed something?

Guys, I've been to Street Legals three times and it's a fun place to go if you're into racing. I've seen everything there from Volvo station wagons to E55's, you name it. I thought I write a couple of suggestions based on my experience, as to what to bring and do so that we can all have a fun an safe day:

What to bring:

1. Long pants - they will NOT let you race with shorts
2. Drivers license, registration, proof of insurance - they do check
3. Helmet if you run sub 13
4. Warm clothing - it does get chilly there after sunset
5. $20 ($10 if you're not racing)
6. A pen to fill out the forms.

Optional:

a) Camera and camcorder (pleeeez someone tape the runs)
b) Food & drinks (but there IS a hot dog stand there)
c) Lounge chairs
d) Portable radio (boom-box would be better). They broadcast the announcements on FM and if you miss the roll call, you'll miss your run.

What not to do:

I) Do NOT remove the passenger seat - cars do go thru inspection and are technically supposed to be "stock"
II) Do not leave your spare tire and jack at home. You can remove them once you’re there if need be.
III) This is obvious, but don't race on the way there or on the way back. I know it's tempting, but please save your energy for the "christmas tree".

Other suggestions to help your ET:

- Try to leave no more than 1/4 tank of premium gas when you get there
- Take out all the junk in the trunk
- Turn off the VDC, AC, radio and headlights when you're on the track
- It doesn't matter who gets to the finish line first. The clock starts when your front wheel crosses the starting line beam.

I hope this helps and I look forward to seing all you guys and having a fun day at the track.

Need To Know:
line up 12pm
tickets on sale 2pm
tech inspec. 2pm
racing starts 4pm

350zJIM, frenzee, or whoever

Any tips on how to efficiently launch? At what RPM? Do you ride the clutch or dump it? 60 ft times?

El Torito @ 11:00 AM
18512 Macarthur Blvd, Irvine

If you can't make it to the caravan rendezvous point, we'll just meet you there at the line up at California Speedway (9300 Cherry Avenue, Fontana) @ noon.

If someone could bring a 12-to-110v inverter and a boombox, it would be very helpful.

Updated attendee list (zma23 and DJK can't make it):

1. frenzee
2. n10zt
3. Charles
4. skar 718
5. zxsaint (maybe)
6. 350zjim
7. Beer Goggles
8. hfm (maybe)
9. HanZolo (maybe)
10.

I had a lot more fun than I expected today. My first run in the Z was a 14.99@97 with no traction at all. Second run I dropped the rear tires down to 24psi from 35 and cut a 14.46@96. Third and best run was a 14.28@98.

Hope everyone made it home safe and sound. I'll post of my video's and slips later. I need to rest up for gun racing in a few hours.

I was disappointed with yesterday's run but glad that nothing bad happened. Too much adrenaline on my first run w/ the Z combined with improper burn out after soaking the tires resulted in a fish tailing spin out up to just about the 1/8 mark. 18.1 sec I even crossed the center divider when I let off the gas to avoid hitting the wall. 40 psi all four tires

2nd run 15.0 sec, chirped through the launch, 2nd, & 3rd gear. Hit the rev limiter 2x. 28 psi all tires. 60' 2.353

3rd run 14.9 sec, I took off the line the way I would normally take off from a stop light. I was too cautious trying to avoid spinning. 60' - 2.381 sec

I was never able to do the type of launch that I practiced from last week.

This is another proof that 1/4 ET is ALL about proper LAUNCH. Next time I would start of with 25 psi. My next mod would be developing a systematic and precise method of launching, which should shave off 0.8 to 1 sec given the same setup.

Good runs guys. That head wind probably cause some slower times too. Next time I'll have all my stuff around the house done to hang out.

I was there with my brother. We saw some 350z's. A group of 4 I believe (you guys had a few good runs, nice job). Anyways, I was disappointed with my times and I did realize that there was a strong head wind and the alt. of ~1200 feet. What do you guys think those two factors would have increased my time by?

The alitutude is really nothing. I'm not sure it's 1200 feet either, but if it is I woulnd't say much. The head wind probably did slow the cars down, or maybe just the trap speed.

Speaking of Patrick, if anybody sees him register we have to tell him to go get his tire feathering taken care of. He drove me to the lot and when he was slowing down it felt like the tires were going to fall off in the front. It was a very loud noise and I know that's what it is. I'm pretty sure even though he bought it used it should be fixed.

Yeah, that's something that he's going to want to get fixed ASAP. Mine was like that up until a month or so ago when I got the fix done. Unfortunately I've only put about 500+ miles on since the fix and I am already noticing the "growl" starting again. Maybe I am just trying to hear it, but even my wife said she heard something "rubbing" and I hadn't even said anything to her.
I don't think that their "fix" is a permanant thing no matter how much they say it is.
