SPL Sale
Hi All,
Bryan asked if I would give a review of the SPL PRO front lower arm bushings or traverse link bushings. Well here goes. To start off with I do a lot of track events, between 15 and 20 a year. Most of the road course guys know that the traverse link is a real weak spot; I was on my 3rd set when it failed. I did a Google search and it turned out that SPL just released these to market, talk about timing. So on with the pictures:

This is where I started

I tried a couple of different ways to “knock” the OE bushings out; all that got me was sweaty. I used the hydraulic press at work and they popped right out with about 2 tons of pressure. When SPL stated that they were a press fit, they weren’t kidding, it took about a ton of pressure to seat the new ones.

And now with the arms back on the car:

So a couple of apologies, first my car is never clean, it is a track car nit a show car. Second the only camera I have is an iPhone, so the quality of the pics isn’t the best.
My feedback of the bearings; I’ve put about a hundred street miles on the car since installation; I’m still shaking down other things that I modified while I had it off road. The steering response feels good, better than the stock bushings, but remember I had a busted bushing when I started. The steering is crisp, responsive, and tight. I CANNOT attest to the noise, simply put my car is completely gutted out and noisy, I couldn’t hear a marching band in the hatch with the car running. I can say that it feels smooth; I do not feel any “popping” or “clicking” in the wheel. When I have tried to put the clutch in and roll down a hill without all of the engine noise I don’t hear anything over the Hoosier’s road noise.
I can’t wait to take it out on track and see if I can feel a difference. You will need a hydraulic press, I tried using an Arbor press and all I did was blow snot. The install wasn't hard and didn't take too long. I would say besides the drive to and from work (hydraulic press) it took about 2 hours, but my car is like legos, perhaps 3 hours if your car is normal and hasn't been completely disassymbled a hundred times. All in all, good mod, can't wait to see the longevity of it.

I wished the pictures were better (and my car was quieter) so that it could have been a better review. It is deffinately a one person job though, and not too difficult. Highly recommend for track folks (assuming you can afford the points increase if you are class racing).
I need the following; please PM me prices to 21703:
