New Z CLub of "North Houston"!
I would like to find out if there is any interest for a "Z Club of North Houston".
The reason for this new Z Club would be for the following reasons:
1)Tired of paying $30+ for a yearly membership to the Z Club of Houston and NEVER receiving membership cards, newsletter, sticker or even any other acknowledgement they received your check other than cashing it?
2)Tired of having ALL events within the 610 loop, and having to deal with downtown traffic, congestion, crime, road construction, all because the events coordinator lives SE of downtown and doesnt want to drive any further?
3)Tired of having dealership events (Extravaganza III) in the "same old" dealership time and time again (Sterling McCall), because its in SW Houston?
Since, the events coordinator lives SE of downtown and doesnt want to drive any further?
4)Tired of hearing excuses as to why all of the above issues exist, and receiving no action in response?
5)Tired of watching Z CLub of Houston officers spending so much time being posting and being "defensive" on this forum instead of "doing their job" - when they should be sending out Membership Cards, Newsletters, stickers, or ANY other type of acknowledgment that you are a member other than cashing your check?
If so, then post here so that we can see what kind of interest there is.
Otherwise, we will continue to be "stuck" with one of the "worst" Z Clubs ever, serving Harris and Montgomery County.

VinUnleaded, in the 9 years of being a member of the ZCOH, I can count on my hand the number of times that the ZCOH had a event on the southside of the Houston area. (which is where I live) Most have been a good hike for me and my Z, but I kinda enjoy driving my Z, no matter how far it could be.
Agreed with JPCo, if you are a member of the ZCOH. Why not voice your opinion by showing up to one of the monthly meetings, or better yet show up to one of the officers meetings, all ZCOH members are invited. There you'll have all of their undivided attention.
You kinda remind me of someone that b*tches about who is voted into a public office, but didn't even vote at all.
Picking on Dave isn't fair, he is just one spoke in this rotating Z wheel, and yeah, all the b*tching you did before last Friday, and you didn't even show up.
Well I might have an answer for your nothside meets, go to www.houston-imports.com/ they have something every week.
Maybe the Z thing isn't for you.
About starting up another Z club, are you going to head this up, or are you going to get someone else to do it, so you can complain about how bad they organize things.
Just a lot of unanswered questions.

Can I get my $35 back for never receiving my membership items?
Oh yeah, my co-workers never got theirs either?
I think the fact that the clubs leadership just knows how to cash our checks and not provide the items promised, speaks for itself.
Maybe when they can complete that simple yet mandatory task, can we start discussing the other issues.
Until then, just accept the fact that if there is anothr Z Club in Houston, its no skin off your back, so deal with it.

Dude, you need to go put some more Zaino on your Z or something, to chill out!
If you're not part of the solution, then you're part of the problem.
Show up at the meetings and address your grievances there.

If you think that you can lure memebers for this new so called club with the attitude you portray, you are in for a surprise! I have been to a few of the Z Clubs functions and have yet to find anyone as negative as yourself. It looks like YOU are the one not willing to drive anywhere for anything. The trek inside the loop is no short drive for me either, but I am willing to do it to meet and hang out with a bunch of very friendly people.
I'm not a member of ZCOH but I know Dave and he puts alot of time and effort into these things. You forget he also has a life outside the Z community. If you're so unhappy with things why keep paying the annual fees? If another Z club gets going that would be great because we could all have more meets. How is voicing an opionin threadjacking. Obviously there is no interest if you head it up.

VinUnleaded, have you tried going directly to the ZCOH forum, try voicing your concerns there.

Of course, you know the ZCOH monthly meetings have now been moved to the south side?
VinUnleaded,
I never received my membership card or anything from the ZCOH, but I am on Dave's mailing list and receive all the club news, event notifications, and alot of jokes from Dave. I can't make it to all the ZCOH events, but I try to go when I'm free. Not all the events go over great, but sometimes they're worth the drive. A recent one to the Texas World Speedway was really good.
Starting a northside Z club seems like too much. I'm moving to the Woodlands next month. Driving around the area, I've already seen a bunch of Spring/Woodlands Zs on the road. Why not schedule some informal get togethers on the northside. If they can tie into Dave's schedule too, then invite the ZCOH to tag along too.

I don't much care where the event is; North or South.
Driving my Z is so much fun, it really makes no diff to me! Furthermore, I've always enjoyed just hanging with other Z owners.
If it's scheduled, I'll usually show up.

I brought up the informal meets in this forum and the suggestion was met with the same defensive and ignorant replies as this thread was.
Basically, the only way we will have more informal meets and more northside activities is by way of either a new club, new leadership and/or attitudes in the current club, or totally seperate of any club.
The points about membership materials underscores the mentality of the leadership, i.e. they dont give a hoot.

Well,
I've stayed out of this as long as I could. Those of you that really know me are probably surprised that I haven't responded by now. I'm sure that some of you are probably wondering why I haven't responded...especially Vin, since he really seems to enjoy "yanking my chain".
He has some legitimate points, but I'm not going to continue to defend the club. Vin...I will make it a personal goal to make sure that you get your money back. Yep, the club has some short-comings, and here lately, they seem to be worse than usual...but I still think it's the best game in town.
Hey...look at the L-Astro's...they're really doing sucky right now...but they're still "my boys"....GO 'STRO'S !!!
The issue of starting a North Houston Z Club?...feel free, but I should warn you...there already is one...and it's called the Z Club of Texas (in Dallas) !
(People in Dallas...that was a joke
)
If you really feel that starting another Z Club is what needs doing, then feel free..after all, this IS America.
Years ago, a group of Z Owners wanted to start a Z Club of Pasadena, because at that time, the meetings (and most of the activities) were held on the West Side of Houston.
They actually had the audacity (Tru...be prepared to break out Mr. Webster) to ask for a copy of our by-laws to help them set up their club. I still laugh when I think about that one. Needless to say, nothing ever came of that.
...but Vin...maybe you'll have better luck than they did.
As for the new meeting place...
Finding an accommodating (Mr. Webster's again, please) restaurant can be difficult in this huge town...as hard as this is to believe.
Doneraki's fit our bill exactly...and most importantly, were excited to have us.
That's why I'm hoping our members will show up and try out the new place.
...and of course, all of you are invited to come too !
The food is great, the staff is friendly and courteous, and we won't pester you to join the club ! Besides...we have some of our best meetings out in the parking lot AFTER the meetings !
Actually, the board is working on a whole new plan for our meetings. For those of you that aren't club members, I won't bore you with the details, but it will address the issue of our members living all over the place !
I would like to end this lengthy diatribe with a great big THANK YOU to all my friends who sped to the fore-front to defend me. (any excuse to speed..eh guys?
) It's nice to know that my efforts (no matter how feeble) are appreciated. Like I've always said...
Z People are the BEST !
