Default Caution with Southpoint Nissan in Austin

I have had the damn rear axle TSB problem for a while, and although Tom Peacock Nissan in houston has been helpful, they have been slow. So I took my car into Southpoint Nissan yesterday and told them about the rear axle tick and also the fact that my clutch is totally shot (13k mi BTW....).

one of the service managers was talking to a mechanic i was chillin with and some lady had an older altima that had a rough idle and was running poorly.

the mechanic was like, "i know what that is...bad intake gasket i bet....no probem".

well the manager told the guy, "if the job takes a long time, she'll get a rental, ok?"

and the dude was like, "um.....oh yeah ok...no problem"

so what I, the uniformed citizen, gleaned from this conversation is that the manager was telling the tech to take longer than needed so the lady would fork over $ for a rental car.

this kinda ticked me off and I was half tempted to simply leave and not deal with them anymore....in fact the parts are on order so i might just cancel the order alltogether and say F-it to Southpoint Nissan

just a heads-up if you go there for service.....

Aren't rental cars free? I'm not sure if the manager was implying for the mechanic to take longer so she'd have to pay for a rental. Maybe the way he said it in person sounded like that?
