Z club Houston meet/show 10/14: Anyone planning on going/entering?
Nice meet/show! Weather turned out to be perfect (my secret backyard anti-rain dance must have worked...). There were quite a few very nice Z's there of all generations and everyone there was very friendly. Big thanks to the Z club of Houston and Sterling McCall folks for putting this on. The hospitality was great with food and drinks for all, lots of raffle prizes and tons of trophies for all the show winners. I think they tried to split the cars into as many appropriate categories as possible to get as many happy winners and trophies handed out as could be, which was cool.
Overall the show was very laid back and well done. Only slightly tense moment was when a few of the more **** Z owners (who shall remain nameless...
) cringed as the judges scrutinized our (uh... I mean THEIR) cars a little more than usual, but it was all good in the end.
First show I've ever entered and I took 2nd in the 350Z modified class (again, I think they were being kind with the grouping and pretty much everybody placed for something). They made an ultra-modified category as well, and of course the representing Team Nextstage members cleaned up that class for the 350s.
It DID make for a pretty long day, with the earliest of us getting there before 9am and it not ending until... when? 4:30, 5:00? I don't even know; the insomnia I've been suffering for the last week really started to take it's toll once afternoon hit and I started to shut down a little, I think... Had a good time, though and it was nice seeing/meeting everyone. I took quite a few pics, so I'll try to get some of the better shots posted sometime tomorrow.

I agree it was fun less the 2 hour dead time between judging and awarding. I think we can all appreciate Steves little anti-rain dance, now only if we had the video. My only compaint "not enough girls" hehe. As far as not entering my car I'm about car showed out, for the last 5/6 years I've been in countless car shows with different cars of mine. It's nice just to spectate now and then, {no pressure}.
Enjoyed myself at the show, after all, it's all about ME
. John, the webmaster for the Z club, was a lot of fun to hang with.
Dave was grousing about how few cars showed (around 25?) and, showed up, but for this newbie, it seemed like an awful lot of all kinds of Z's were there. I think I'm finally beginning to appreciate pre-350Z cars, that's how much of a newbie I really am
.
It seemed like dang near everybody got a trophy, which was nice. It made me glad (again) that I recently got some cheap chrome wheels and a hot dang audio system
. I DO wish, however, that when the winners were announced that the car was identified with the owner. New club members and klingons like myself don't necessarily know or remember which owner goes with which car so it would be nice to make the connection.
The only thing left to do is join the club and drag my sorry a** to the meetings. I'll try to be a good boy
