Question Autocross in Houston?

I've never been autocrossing, and recently, I want to. It looks like so much fun.
I've only been to the dragstrip in Baytown, Houston Raceway.

Where does everybody go autocrossing at in Houston???!!!11

And somebody go with me!! I don't want to go alone.

-Bobby

EDIT: There is a list at the bottom of the page. It's all the my350z members that are going.

If you want to go out with a group, take a look at the Z club of Houston forum (www.zclubofhouston.com). They have track events, MSR sometimes and have events during the year for TWS and even Hallet.
I don’t think they are doing anything in January but they may have something going for February.
Check the forum or come out to one of the club monthly meeting, you can get a better sense of it from the guys.

PM me if you want some more info.

Your local Z club will not be useful in providing you autocross information. You need to contact your local autocross clubs instead. Listed below are a couple of local autocross clubs in the Houston area:

Houston Region SCCA
http://houscca.com/solo/
Gulf Greyhound Park

Houston Chapter BMW SCCA
http://www.houston-bmwcca.com/
Houston Police Academy

Texas A&M Sports Car Club
http://www.tamscc.org/forum/index.php
Riverside Annex

Below is the calendar where you can find out when local autocross events are scheduled in your area and who is hosting them:

DLB Racing

If you're looking for an autocross event this month, our San Antonio autocross is scheduled this Sunday at the AT&T Center:

San Antonio Sports Car Association

Thanks for that information. I took a look at the Houston region SCCA website. It looks like their next event is on January 6, 2008 (Sunday).

I guess I'll be going on January 8.

Do we rent our helmets? I read the website, didn't find anything.

The event will be held at the Gulf Greyhound Park on I-45. Click on the Houston Region SCCA website to find more info.

I guess I'll start the list of my350z members that want to go on January 6, 2008 (Sunday):

Most autocross clubs have spare helmets that they lend out to drivers for free. However, I would not recommend borrowing them. Imagine the hundreds of sweaty, stinky heads that have used those helmets in the past. Go to Walmart or a cycle shop and buy a motorcycle helmet for around $75.

Ok, that is right, the scca has one every first Sunday of the month. This is a cool way to try it out. I think it use to be like $30 for the day, but just make sure.

You may want to correct your date on the sign up there (you have a typo).

I know that most tracks want you to have a "SA2000" or even better a "SA2005" helmet.
Not sure about what the scca wants, a motorcycle helmet is an "M" and not good enough for some tracks. Just something to look at if you plan to use the helmet for more then just the scca events.

I might be down for going our there.
