Yes, let's race a turbo'd 4 banger with bolt-ons, tune, whatever vs a naturally aspirated 6 cylinder.

You do realize that anything with a turbo from factory can be easily modified with very little money to become much faster than its stock form, right? And you also do realize that the 350Zs don't respond to N/A mods, right?

So how are you gonna ask me to race you and your Evo? Comparing apples to oranges only makes you look retarded.

How about this? Let's go to the drag strip and race. You drive your car down the strip and then let me drive it. I'll also drive my car down the strip and then let you drive it. Whoever has the best times overall in both cars win.

That way, we're not comparing which car's faster (since it's modified stock turbo'd car vs naturally aspirated car that doesn't respond to n/a mods). Instead, we'll be seeing which one's the better driver.

I just hope I don't break Dale's car at the strip. How much abuse can the Evo take?

My Z stood up to all of my abuse thus far (lots of +6k launches on slicks, even more 3-4k launches on street tires, powershift into all gears on and off the track, etc).

I think Mackie told me that the STi couldn't take too much abuse, especially when launching, yes?

STOCK FOR STOCK, the Evo and the STi will beat 03-06 350Z from a dig, given that both drivers are competent. 07+ 350Z will be very close, but I think the edge still goes to AWD turbo 4bangers.

On a road course, 03-06 will lose to the Evo and the STi, given that both drivers are competent. 07+ will be closer to the Evo and the STi and will be a drivers' race, given that both drivers are competent.

Performance wise, the Evo and the STi are great cars, as is our 350Z. You got the car because something attracted you to it more than other cars. Quit bitching about how one is better than the other at blah blah.

If you're modded, then quit yapping about how you beat this and that. Compare apples to apples and oranges to oranges. Do NOT start a pissing contest about how one's better than another, unless you're just asking for a time out.
in my experience your wrong about everything except the road course, zs can handle decent from the factory, the brakes suck and so do the tires.

stock itll take it, Ive beat the hell out of my suspension/ tranny and its fine. But anything its not super strong. the wrx have the **** tranny. Evos will take much more abuse from launching then stis will, when you get to like 500whp is when the tcase gives you issues. stis dont have t cases we have center diffs. To be so similar the evo/ sti are so different. But in al seriousness. The sti will beat a 350z stock for stock on the drag strip as well as from a roll. In my car stock I have put multiple lengths on a stock g35 as well as a 350z. We all know anything can and will happen. And whoever made the comment about street racing grow up. I keep my **** on the road course, and if I am going fast on the streets its at 3 am and im by myself. If theres other cars around I will chill out. I put others safety above mine, I dont want to be responsible for anyones death except my own.

Like I said before-

Evo- Nice sedan.

Z- Pure sports car.

You guys need to go find a Mitsubitchy forum to hang out on......
on a road course bro. Vipers are a b1tch to drive on a road course new and old ones.

yes and there damn strong. Its a drivers race between an 07 and a stock sti/ evo. On the drag strip it takes a lot better driver to run a lower quarter in a z than an sti. The 07 motor is awesome.

In my stock form, I've never lost to any STi's or Evo's. If you look at the trap speed for all 3 cars (STi, Evo, 03-06 Z), they're about the same. From a roll, no Z should lose to the STi/Evo. 07 Z traps so much higher than the others and shouldn't lose to any of the above mentioned cars.

At the drag strip, the 07 Z and the STi/Evo should be about the same in terms of ET, but definitely not the trap.

Road courses, the AWD cars have the upperhand over the DE engines. HR engines will yield similar times, from what I've heard.

I agree. It's definitely harder in a RWD car to launch than it is in an AWD car.

ANYWAY, we can go on and on with this. In the end, we're still comparing apples to oranges. Why not slap a turbo on the V6 along with AWD and add 2 cylinders to the 4 bangers to even it out? Who really gives a ****?

just want to take your logic... ive never raced an evo at the drag strip so I could care less about the drag time. Ive walked away from EVERY evo ever and sti on the highway. soooooo with that logic evos and stis are both slower than 350z on top end. just taking your logic and throwing it back at you. And I showed you a article where the 2006 model Z beats the evo around a course.. and the 2007 is faster. Why havent you commented about that if the almighty sti and evo are unbeatable..?

Umm look above you I commented on how strong the hr is. Its a damn good motor. I take articles like that like I take your comments, it means nothing to me. Im speaking from my experience and your speaking from yours. For example I ran a stage 2 sti while my motor was blow, he shouldve won, he got raped, and I mean rsx from a dig rape. My sti stage 2 is fast enough to have kept up with modded c5 z06s on the highway. And its about o be about 50 whp more, brand new motor new injectors different intercooler better fuel pump and a new header, o and a real tune, and hopefully a c16 tune.

Ahh the horrid drag racer comment has been agreed to. And awd cars actually easy to launch, I just really dont care a whole lot to learn. About 1 in 4 of my launchs doesnt suck. So I need to run 5 times at the track. In theory the z should really be equal to an sti on the highway and an hr should beat one. But the thing is You can beat how easy it is to make a factory fi car fast. Hell my brothers 08 passat is about as fast as a 350z. And its a damn boat.

OP congrats on getting a truly, IMO, great car. I like the EVO, but it was never really an option for me. Outside of us tuners, not very many people know exacty how powerful the EVO is... you say Subaru and images of Paul Hogan driving an Outback come to mind, again general public. I got a Z because it not only has that "ooomph!" but it also has those "head-swingin'" sexy good looks. I freely admit that I'm a bit a "show-off" ***** and I'd say most of us that own a Z (then, now, future) are like that... and the EVO just doesn't do it for me in the latter...

...again congrats on the new wheels, but you know more than a few of us feel slightly betrayed... but "to hell with us", do your thing

Sorry.

Seriously guys, let's stop the pissing match. Nobody really cares which one's faster or not. No matter which one you have, they'll be pretty close from one another to call it a driver's race. Congrats to all of us for having such great cars.

END ALL POSTING ABOUT WHICH CAR IS BETTER.

This thread is about Dale's new car and let's just stick with that. Next person to post otherwise will get a vacation away from my350z.
