So who's going?
Why in the world would we want to limit the conventions?
Agreed that it might be more convenient, but there's a lot to see and do in this great country of ours...and we've got some of the greatest cars to do it in !.
We try to scatter them all over the Northern Hemisphere to keep it interesting.
The year after California, Tennessee is considering hosting it.
Chazz...that should be some caravan to New Hampshire. We've even got a couple of folks from Houston, joining you for the adventure. I hope y'all take care of them. Who's leading the show, you or the "Mad" one? Please say it's gonna be you
or they may have to take a seperate route

P.S.-
I'm sure that all the folks in New Hampshire really appreciate your sentiment about their area....let's see...hmmm...I wonder if Paul Newman considers driving at Lime Rock (not far from his home) retarded? Probably not.
Keep an open mind and a sense of adventure. Speaking from past adventures...sometimes the trip getting there is as much fun as the destination !
Hope you can join us,

I didnt say anything about nor share negative comments about New Hampshire. I merely stated that I didnt agree on it being a place for a "national convention"
From what I've heard and seen, its an awesome place, and better thatn "Taxachusetts" evidently
I feel that anything national needs to be accessible to the masses... not so far skewed to one coast over another.
I look at 6 locations to form the boundaries for anything requireing people to visit from various parts of the country. Everything inbetween too
Starting from due north working clockwise: Des Moines, IA; Columbus, OH; Nashville, TN; Dallas, TX; Poenix, AZ; Salt Lake City, UT. These locations have numerous major locations within those boundaries,
I think the masses even hardvore people from either coast could make it to events to those cities.
Anyway, im not *******, NH... I just think its a helluva drive.
I plan to, some year, drive to New England, I want to visit Fenway Park one day

I, no doubt, agree that it's one heckuva drive. I'm right on the Gulf Coast, so you can figure on adding 5+hrs to your drive for me.
The way the conventions are picked are:
We (the ZCCA Board) accepts bids for hosting a convention up to 2yrs. in advance. Any club submitting a bid usually has one or more other clubs in competiton for that years convention, so the competition can get pretty fierce. They really have to razzle-dazzle the board and have a lot to offer...but most of all, they really have to show that they have their sh*t together.
Usually the chamber of commerce helps to "sell their city" as the place to be.
It's a LOT of hard work and financial planning to host a week-long event of this magnitude. A lot of work usually goes into just the presentation. It's always hard to pick a winner, because that also means there has to be a loser. Each city usually has so much to offer !
It would sure be a lot easier if they would just allow us to accept bribes under the table
We try to convince the bidding clubs to stagger their bids, so that we don't have 2 or 3 conventions in a row on the West Coast, East Coast, etc. We try to move them around, so that they are a little more accessible to everybody.
I wish I could talk Rodel and the Austin Gang into hosting a Texas Convention each year, in addition to the International; then, those of us here in Texas, that couldn't make the "big show", could still attend a MAJOR Z Event each year
