[DFW]: shop recommendation for brake work
I need to have rear pads replaced and rotors resurfaced. I read through the DFW shop experiences and didn't see anything for basic replacement of parts like this. Anyone have this done anywhere other than at Nissan dealership? They quoted me about $280.
TIA

Depends what pads you want. Centric Rotors are pretty probably along with brakes such as hawks, centric posi quiets etc.

I don't have any knowledge on what types/brands are better than others. I just don't feel like paying the $280 for the rear, and eventually another $260 for the front like they quoted me. I'd be content just putting OEM parts back on.
280$ for the rears, with no new rotors? Holy sh&3$t that's rape! For 280$ you can get new rotors front and rears and new pads (possible).
Here since I'm feeling really nice today. I'll help you out

Thanks for all of the pricing. Those are waaaaaay better than the stealership. I just passed 49K on the car. Yes, the brakes are non-Brembo. Quoted from Nissan of McKinney. They also want $150 to replace the serpentine belt. I saw in the DIY forums that both belts cost about $40 together. No wonder they can sell cars for cheap. The service department makes up for it. I usually only go to the dealer for oil changes since they do all of the extra stuff besides the oil change. They give me a nice color coded inspection report on my car of what is wearing and what needs to be replaced.

Here is the breakdown from my last visit:
$259.99 rear pads rotors (told it would be $20 more since that price is for front)
$148.99 for the serpintine belt
$89.95 for alignment (they noticed uneven wear on my front tires)
$49.95 for recommend nitrogen in my tires (one tire was a little low)
$299.95 for the 45K mile service.
---------
$956.70 after taxes and shop fees.

I only paid for oil change that day. I'll skip the 45K service, nitrogen, and alignment. I'll do the belts myself.
had to add that the prices from courtesyparts.com show the front rotors to be about $14.50 more than the rear ones. And the dealer quotes me $20 more for the rear, what's up with that? Pad prices are within a couple of bucks each.
Ive also noticed that when I call courtesy and ask for the price of parts..they give me one...then I check online and its way cheaper. They have ALWAYS honored the lower price but dont know why the price difference... "stealerships"
i dont recommend getting an alignment at a dealership (from experience). NTB does a great job and for just a lil bit more than the price of the dealer alignment, you can get an alignment package that for one price you can get as many alignments as you want for a year, two years, etc depending on which package you choose. NTB in grapevine also has an in-ground alignment machine....
They actually have a 6month one for that price, 1year for 100$ or so. If you have a in-ground alignment rack from firestone I'd get the lifetime one for 159$.
Damn I am good, was pretty close to your quote.
You're paying for all that service, then at the end they throw in another 250$ for a 45k service? Blasphemy. I don't get how dealerships get people so often. People just have a grand to spend on maintenance and get extremely ripped off?
