I have a '05 Z equipped with popcharger (had it for long time now w/no prob). During the weekend I took the filter out to have it clean. When I put it back, turns out I didn't position it properly causing back part of the filter to rub on the freon line. Yes, their was a leak but fortunately I was able to catch this soon & reposition it correctly. You can't see the hole w/your naked eyes but their is a very tiny tiny hole. Best case scenario I'm thinking/hoping this can be welded. Worst case, I need to replace the whole line which I'm assuming it's labor intensive. Anyone recommend a trust worthy shop that can fix this?

You have to replace it and I would just take it to the dealer if it was me. If you don’t want to go that route you should take it to a shop that has an A/C machine. More like this one http://www.denlorstools.com/shop/ima...AC_Machine.jpg because those machines will not recovery contaminated R-134a. Also, since there is a leak there is moisture in the system and that machine will vacuum it all out.

*sigh* I think I'm just going to have to start calling dealerships tomorrow. I didn't really get a chance to look around for a reputable shop but driving around in Dallas w/o A/C can be a real b!tch. Thanks jaoku!

I followed the line and it leads to where our brake fluid container is and continues on towards center of the car. If I replace the entire line I fear this will be very labor intensive.
I had the same problem. My K&N intake box rubbed at the same area. I ordered the parts from the dealership. Can't remeber the price but I think it was around $70. The line was fairly easy to installed. Then I bought the recharge kit and added the freon myself. Total cost was around $150.

Oh hey! Yeah I remember you asked me what year my car was right? Nice to meet you. Sorry if I didn't seem talkative or friendly. I was just a little PO at the time when I found out about my car.
You can either put a bandage on it and hope it doesn't fail later on or get it done right. I would suggest you replace the line yourself and take it to a shop with an A/C machine. Again, there is a leak so there is moisture and maybe dirt in the system (A/C is a sealed system), if not taken care of it may ruin the compressor later on.
IDK how that would have happened... its odd

Going over my past created threads. If anyone cares about the outcome I actually took my car to a dealership that my friend happened to be working and got free refill on freon after I used the JB weld to cover up the leak. Have not had a issue since.
