Default Windshield replacement help needed!

I woke up this morning to a nice 10" crack in my windshield. It's garaged and wasn't there last night so I have no idea how this happened, but regardless I need to get it replaced. Has anyone had there windshield replaced in the DFW area? If so where and how much? Did you have an OEM replacement or aftermarket?

Thanks in advance!

Scott

Call your insurance company, Scott. The "OEM" windshield was 800 bucks when I had to have mine replaced. Your insurance company should be able to recommend a good "come to your door" service that will be MUCH less expensive.

Thanks for the tip. Yes, I called my insurance and the quote from their recommended installer (Safelite) was significantly less than what my deductable was so I went ahead and installed the new windshield on Friday out of pocket. Based on all the prices I've heard, I'm glad it only cost me $275 with tax and labor to replace.

of ownership, got a chip right in front of driver. It was covered under my comprehensive with a $100 deductible, but if I had paid for it myself it would have only been $350. It looks exactly like original.

Sorry to hear about your windshield Aggie, but in my experience, the replacement windshields may look like stock, but feature a curious subtle 'crease' in the glass above the rear view mirror - at least it does on my PPG glass!

PS - you missed an awesome time at Branson Z Fest this past weekend! It re-emphasized tome again what owning a sports car is all about! I manged to even give Chazzg some "eye openers!"

From a review of the new windshield before they put it on I couldn't see any differences from the OEM one. And to be honest at this point, I'm not so sure the OEM would be any better/worse then going with a non-OEM windshield. I do know they would have charged more and I would have had to wait a week or two for the OEM one, so I will see how this one goes.

Thanks for the tips/advice.

Scott

ps- yes I would have loved to have gone to Branson but it would have just made me want to spend more money on the car....must...fight...the...urge!
