This is very simple. The current G35 club is solely an advertisement for a single dealership. There is 3-9 months between meetings. Legally, they aren't an organization. They have no tax status or even a formal charter. There are no elections. It is in fact a business venture hosted out of Grubbs. Grubbs owns the website domain and hosts the website. The few meetings (up to 9 months apart) are the only events and are ALWAYS hosted and put on by Grubbs. Occassionally, an e-mail is sent out on a trip to Ennis last minute, but nothing other than that. There is no formal schedule. I have been involved with the Miata club, Mustang Club, Porsche Club, SCCA and ER(on the board of directors) and this group drives me crazy. The point of meetings is to plan events. For the G35 people, an occassional meeting is an event. I tried to organize an autocross, a rally and a day at MSR. Despite lots of interest, no one helps to put an event on. Despite having 22 G35 owners sign a list at the meeting for the cheapest day any group has ever done at MSR, no one on the list submitted a payment. I did receive a few off the boards and almost made the count with Z owners. The continual response is from the G35 community is that they just want to show up. They don't want to set anything up or ever pay a fee. They just want to mope around looking at cars and never doing anything. I have never seen any "enthusiast" organization like that. Keep in mind that I am also the one who designed the Club logo artwork that is on the website and club cards. I also converted the database for them to make the cards.

A real "enthusiast" is shown by what they do with the car and community, not just that they own it. I've tried with the G35 crowd and given up. Ask yourself what you've done? How many events have you helped out with? Now that I am with the Z club it is a lot more enjoyable. We have regular monthly meetings and events. I am helping to organize events and they are an enjoyable crowd to be around. If you can figure out a way to make the G35 group like them, I wish you luck. I tried for 6 months with no success. If you are an "enthusiast" then you will understand my attitude.

I fully understand your attitude, but most of these guys aren't into modding and taking their cars to the limits. A lot of the guys in the club see it as a novelty to be part of a "club". I honestly don't believe the G35 at this point in time will have the followings that the Miatas, Mustangs, or Porsches have. Just because these guys don't share the same level of involvement that you have doesn't make them non-enthusiasts. They're just not as hardkore as you or I may be.

So be it if the meetings Grubbs holds is for advertisement and marketing. I haven't bought a thing from Grubbs myself. The last meeting they gave away a few satellite radios, along with free breakfast in a swank location which is reason enough for me to show up. Free stuff is good!

I plan on doing some autocross events & road course events in the future, but it really is hard to find time myself. I need to get some lightweight, dedicated track wheels first. Keep me in the loop of anything you have going on in that respect please.

I guess what you are trying to tell us all here, is that if we aren't as dedicated as you then we must be lazy. It doesn't mater if we have a life, real obilgations, and time contraints .... it just doesn't hold up as an excuse in your book.

I am just glade that Grubbs is willing to give us anything. For most of us, once a dealer sells us a car he doesn't want to know us except for warranty work and the next sale. I for one am proud to be a member of the G35 Owners Club (Z owner)!

I personally would like to invite any G or Z owner to belong .... lazy or not

I was thinking the same thing daddy Z. Along with my office day job, school, girlfriend, and my home based business, it is hard to be so dedicated at being a hardkore racer.

Loren,
I understand your frustration, as one of the few that mailed a check to you for the event, I was disappointed on the cancellation of the track event.
Will you send me a e-mail to any events you know about would not mind a G35 to participate.
Thanks
Chris

I for one would love to see more G's around here in This area.

As far as the Z goes we have a few customers with Z's here at Gotham Racing.

Actually at the moment we have a customer named Phil that will be Having us build him a Custom Single Turbo kit.

He drops the car off in about 2-3 weeks, so we will see how that goes.

Im sure the Local Z and G's will get a kick out of that.

Chris, Long time no see man. I hope all is well with the G35.

-Aaron
