Default Do I need anything else with UTEC if...

If I only want to get tuned with UTEC once and leave it alone, would I need a map switch, map senser, or other accessories for the UTEC?

Not going to race or anything, just want to make sure car runs well with my many, many breathing mods.

What do I "NEED" with the UTEC unit?

I search and read but can't find a clear answer to this one.

Thanks

just the utec itself would be needed. A Tuner would be a good thing to have too to moniter/datalog wideband 02, but if you are having the unit tuned by someone and they have a wideband, it's not 100% essential

Any authorized TXS dealer..Z1, Forged Performance, MRC..just to name a few.

I agree with Z1. For basic NA mods, just the UTEC is required, since you are planning to have it professionally tuned.

Has anyone tuned the UTEC via CIPHER on an 05+? Any accuracy issues to be aware of using this method? I can't see buying the tuner if I already have the capabilities.

The only tuning available with the cipher is a global timing correction, and idle adjustment. I dont see any issues with using the Cipher with the UTEC, but we dont need to...unless we need to raise an idle.

Oh yeah, I didn't mean to actually do any tuning via cipher. I only planned on using to monitor timing, and widebands and build maps from it. Wanted to know if anyone has built maps only using the data provided via cipher.

yeah, we did this and datalogged the cipher AFR to see if it would work, it works pretty well. you need to use a long gear to get results that you can use.

maybe i am thinking we datalogged the blitz rvit.... dont remember

I've logged over 200 4th & 5th gear pulls. Now that the UTEC has arrived, I'm a little doubtful of building maps strictly from the data provided via cipher. But hell, it's worth a try. I'll just take baby steps using this method. Thank you
