Doing free-air calibration on WB O2, can I do this stand-alone, or only in-car?

Default Doing free-air calibration on WB O2, can I do this stand-alone, or only in-car?

Title says it all... I was just wondering if I can do a free-air calibration off the 9v DC (doubt it) or if the Tuna has to be installed in the car to get enough power to heat the WB O2 for calibration?

I can't imagine there is enough amp from the 9v to heat that O2, but then again I have no idea what goes into making them work.

i remember that i've read somewhere in the manual that 9v batteries werent enough to heat up the sensor but why dont u try it and find out?

you dont have to do it when you first get the wideband, you just do it every so often after...

Yea it isnt needed once you install.. Should do it every 3 months or so.. When you do, just unscrew it from the bung and let it hang..

Ahhh..gotcha. Ok ...the manual wasn't clear (or I misunderstood). I thought this was an initial calibration thing, as well as an ongoing maintenance thing. Well, that's good to know that it is unnecessary on first setup. I thought the manual was suggesting that it was a "Tuna meet O2 sensor" kind of thing, so they could get to know each other.
