UTEC tuner install question
Hi, my first post here on My350z! I am a member here and on G35driver and have a couple of questions on the utec install people have done. I finally managed to get my dash back together....man its a pita getting that thing in the G! I finally did what some others have mentioned on the G forums, I cut off all the studs on the utec, taped and zip-tied the ecu to the utec and zip-tied it up there....the only way I could see it fitting. I couldnt get the underside of my glovebox back though, the utec sticks down too far...oh well, you cant even tell its not there unless you stick your head down low.
On installing the tuner, if I take my cat off the driver side of my car, and take it down to get the bung welded in, do I need to replace any gaskets on the exhaust when putting it back in? I have complete stock exhaust, and I plan on welding the WB pre-cat in which from reading every post I could find, appears to be a tight fit, but can be done. My tuner is in mid shipment right now and am trying to just plan this before I take my exhaust apart.
Man I look forward to datalogging and fine tuning this thing!! I definitely am getting a little knocking after the MREV2 and spacer install. There is a lot of good information on this forum, I read the posts from Audible Mayhem and Ken tuning theirs and am looking to follow their lead. I am also following the GUI interface thread and looking forward to a release for these cars. Thanks!

you can get the UTEC up so the cover fits back on. There is a stud on the firewall of your G. I had to bend (and hammer) it flat against the firewall. Then, I was able to get the UTEC up higher.
Also, I don't have my UTEC taped or strapped to the ECU. I cut the ecu bracket and am using the lower part of the ecu bracket to hold the UTEC up! It is rather difficult to explain. It took me several hours and some power tools
to rework the bracket to hold the UTEC up. NOw that I know it works, it would be easier to do on another.
definately bend that firewall stud out of the way though.

I saw that stud, but i didn't think that was keeping it from going up more, Ill have to try bending it, thanks! Do you happen to know the exhaust question? If I remove my cat, do I have to replace any gaskets when re-installing it? Thanks Quadcam
