My overall impression of the tune?

-The car runs super smooth now with the tune.
-Lots of noticeable power added throughout the powerband @ any throttle position.
-My favorite mod so far.
-Highly recommend this mod if you want to get every last bit of hp out of you NA Z/G. It definitely makes all your breathing mods work together.

to Julian for working his magic with the UTEC.

and why not a picture too...

Results look good.

What made you decide to put in a UTEC instead of just flashing the ECU with something like Osiris?

For one I really didn't like the idea of sending out my ECU by ups or fedex. I've seen them damage packages or even worse lose them. And even if i file a claim and get my money back, I won't have an ECU.

Osiris is new but the UPREV guys seem to know their stuff as far as tuning. I already made my appointment when Osiris came out, but I probably would have went with a UTEC anyway.

I live about 15 mins from MRC so if i have any problems i can just give 'em a call or limp it over to the shop. I may even go TT someday so this just made the most sense at the time.

Nice - UTEC is definitely the way to go after all those breathing mods.

A reflash would do the exact same thing. I am too pondering on going the UTEC route for NA, or going with the UpRev Osiris for NA.

Both of them seem damn good for a reasonable price, but I am leaning for the UpRev Osiris because its a good deal; $700 for a reflash with cipher + free limited tunes is a deal I just can't walk away from.

Nice gains by the way!

Were setting up with uprev also...We will be doing reflashes in the future also.Transformer's car was in DIRE need of AF tuning. His AF levels were in high 14's under full throttle..We actually heard some knocking on the car on the baseline dynos..

nice gain! just a quick question for MRC..

the tuned a/f shows 14.4:1 upto 2900rpm and 14:1 upto 3800rpm.

is there a reason for this? is it for better fuel economy? I thought 13:1 was the best a/f for making more power?

just trying to understand what is the best A/F for a VQ engine.. as I live on the other side of globe and have no chance to drive into your shop

Does this mean that you would tune on the dyno and then flash the ECU with the FA/Timing parameters instead of using a device like the UTEC?

UpRev's Osiris product seems to have changed a few things. Like a lot of people, I'm trying to determine if the UTEC still serves a purpose in an NA G35.

Each engine is different. As you can see, this particular one needed LESS fuel down low and more up top. Most likely due to the headers, where they loose some power down low and gain up top..The pre-tune AF was all out of whack.

The Osiris, from what I believe is used only on that car and thats it..I dont know if it can be taken out of the car and resold to someone..Ill have more info by weeks end.

That's correct. The Osiris cable locks into one (or possible two) vehicles. I guess I didn't phrase my question very well.

I was curious what a genuine tuner like MRC would use Osiris for. My guess is that you would tune a car on your dyno and then program the ECU accordingly using a yet-to-be-released Osiris tool. My guess is that you will have an agreement with UpRev to create Osiris maps from dyno data as UpRev does.

This would let you (MRC) tune a car much more cheaply than is currently possible by buying an ECU piggy-back device and programming that.

I think it can – new owner would just need new license key from UpRev because I guess its tied to the old ECU.

Nice gains Julian!

You heard knocking? What it sounded like?
Or you logged knocking? In which RPM range? Thanks

Logged and heard..Sounds like BB's being rattled in a tin can, can easily be mistaken for an exhaust rasp at times..Was in the lower end near peak TQ about 4000-4500rpms..

Very nice gains Julian, tuned some of these Z33 as well and enjoyed the explanation on the fueling. You are correct about all engines being different.

Keep up the good work, I see we have common taste in the excellent choice of tuning aparatus.
