How much can I expect as far as cost? I had a local respected tuner in Dallas street tune my setup, and the car pulls pretty well. I haven't gotten any dyno #'s yet though. I am considering driving down to SGP to get another tune though, cuz my car is running rich. I'd like to hear tuning experiences w/ SGP. Do they talk to you and walk you through the whole process of what they did?
Or should I just go back to my tuner to see if he'll redo my tune? I just don't want to waste money on multiple tunes when I don't have to. Get it done right the first time around ya know.

Cool! If you feel comfortable fine tuning it yourself, there's lots of good utec info on this forum. I've also found the subby forums very helpful as well (for general info), being that most of those guys also tune with utec...
/\ true, very easy to add/subract fuel if that is your goal. I know you did create a thread on Driver but you mentioned you were running 11.5's, for me that is a good A/F since you don't want to be on the 12's when you are on you peak boost/TQ.
Since you have Utec please post some logs (a 5th gear pull to redline will be good) so we can see if you are really running Rich. Every FI supposed to run a little Rich for safety and little black smoke is not a big deal.

Yeah I think I need to invest in a wideband, so i can log AFR. Or at least just visit the dyno to get it recorded to adjusted that way.
is it hard to log data with the UTEC? I've read the manual and it doesn't seem to difficult. I should post my map and get some feedback on it.

Just read the manual and that will tell you how to do it, the problem is that it won't tell you the A/F reading unless you are using a Tuner or use a third party application like UTI. Since you don't have a Wideband (why don't you have one
) then you won't find out your A/F.

We just got our Vortech-supercharged Z with a UTEC back from SGP tuning. Mark Gust is the tuning guru and he is very knowledgeable and professional. We had him do a full Osiris tune on the ECU so the target AFR's were set to work with the UTEC, instead of trying to 'learn' around it. Further, they spent a good deal of additional time 'dialing in' the intake and exhaust variable timing on our RevUp motor to deliver a smooth horsepower line and a near horizontal torque curve. We have driven the car about 700 miles since getting it back and there have been absolutely NO problems with roughness between shifts (as some people have reported with similar setups as ours), the start-up idle, idle compensation, warm-up cycle etc. are the same as stock, and the WOT is absolutely linear and amazingly fast. The AFR's are very stable via an Innovate gauge and rarely go below 12.5 and stay 'nailed' at 14.3 at idle. As to cost, we were very happy with what they charged given that they spent an entire day, all told (the tune was about $600 with the total being $1,700 for a lot of additional work and parts to complete our supercharger install over 4 days total, very reasonable). We highly recommend SGP and talk to Mark or Thomas about exactly what you want on your tune. They are a bit busy, so plan in advance. Hope that helps
