US Version S-AFC II now available
I have just gotten word that the US Version S-AFC II has been released. Check it out. It is a nice unit and I believe MSRP is around 400. If you want one get it soon from what I heard they are going fast.
u can get them on ebay for around 300 bucks. i do believe this is the one that's compatible with the z33; the old wasn't or something
. it's atleast cool to look at. has anyone tried the old on on a z?

True you could have gotten the S-AFC II from ebay but that was the japanese one with japanese instructions. If you can read japanese no problem. The US spec one was only released a week ago or so. Plus the ones on ebay... japanese model... is not going to be warrantied by Apex-i here in the states. If you get a bad one you will have to send it back to japan.
I believe the Japan vs. the US ones will have different model numbers. So they will know.
The S-AFC is universal it should have worked in the Z33 but the S-AFC II is much better... with more control. You'll probably be able to find the S-AFC Gen I for pretty cheap if you want now but I suggest going with the S-AFC II.
If you do buy on ebay and you do care about warrranty make sure you get the US model S-AFC II.

This is what I've been told. They recieved 1000 units for stock. As of this morning they only had 100 or so left. So they are out on the market. You just have to find them.
For those who don't know it's a unit that manages your air/fuel ratio. With some other added features with the new one.

Vendor is APEX-i. Distributors I don't know. I got word from APEX-i that they got a 1000 units in and they nearly out from shipping them to the distributors. So check online or your local shops... damn that sounded like a commercial

Besides the Thing looking cool, what is the benefit of having one for the average Z owner with no FI of SC? I assume that with what most people are running now, exhaust, CAI, that the ECU will adjust the fuel levels to a proper air/fuel ratio. Is this more of a asthetic type thing until you jump up the air consumption of the engine?
Yes the ECU will adjust the a/f ratio but it will mostly make it run rich. With the S-AFC II you have better control over the a/f mixture through the entire rpm band. The best a/f ration I believe is 14.4:1 but you can probably blow things up if you keep it constantly at that rate. So you adjust it through the rpms to give you the best power by either adding more fuel or more air or less. Hopefully like I mentioned before I will be able to dyno my car this weekend, running on Injen CAE, Hyper ground, Ultra SS Pulleys, and see what I get. And once I get the S-AFC II installed and tuned run another dyno to look for any improvements.
If I can figure out how to read the damn thing I'll see about posting the measurements.

Sounds pretty good. Not to get off the subject, but does anybody know if our car has a return fuel line or lines? My RSX did not have a return fuel line, which was a first for Honda, I think, the s2000 may be that way. I just read a lot of comments from manufactures, and other people that this makes it hard to deal with fuel delivery issues when adding FI or a SC.
most cars stock run rich because it is better for the motor. If you run lean that is whyen you staart hurtin it.
I run at a .97 - 1.0 rich mode if you wpmderomg amd I am running a mid 14 in my 2002 eclipse with minor bolts ons

I just picked up my S-AFC II today. Man I like this unit. I won't be able to get it installed and tuned for a while though, maybe a month or so. Working on a exhaust before I get the AFC put in.
Note: the US Version has a logo on the top right corner of the box that says "FOR EXPORT". This is how you will know it's the US version. If you want to keep the warranty for this unit you have to keep the box.
