Default UTEC / Hyperterminal driver HELP!

Okay...bought a serial to USB cable. Followed instructions from TXS on setup. When it goes so setup the driver (Hyper terminal) I point it to the folder with the window drivers, it searches and says the file needed isnt in that directory. Re-downloaded the files from TXS, un zipped, same thing. I even let the hardware wizard search on it's own. What the hell?! Anyone else have this issue? Any guru's know what to do? I even looked in the system/hardware profile and it says no driver installed for that. Can't try different com settings...there is only one available to choose (com 3)
GRRRRRRRRRR!

P.S. searched this site for hours and no solution found

Did you install the driver from your Serial-USB cable? The TXS USB driver is if you want to use a straight USB connection.

You should be using the driver that came with your Serial-USB Adapter. When I bought mine the manufacturer provided the drivers on a CD.

Yeah I had the same difficulty using the driver that CAME WITH THE ADAPTOR (Belkin). I ended up just using the USB.

Ditto^ Had to go to the website of the serial-USB cable maker and download some files, install them, THEN open up HT.

Yeah...I don't know why this seems dumb to me...."back in my day" a cable was a cable...Hidden in the package was a tiny CD...file size was like 150K....Fixed it.
Thanks Athen and everyone else who hit it on the head.

This is what I had to do as well. Don't use the TXS USB drivers if you're using a Serial to USB adapter, use the drivers that came with the adapter.

Utec has another output for a straight USB. Go look at the back and you'll see a USB connection.

you only need a usb-serial adapter if you are going to run a UTEC and the TXS Tuner wideband. if you are running just the UTEC, use the direct usb connection on the utec.

Unless your laptop has a Serial Connection then you will need a Serial-USB because the Tuner only have a Serial connection.
