Question about switching CAI's after Tune
I'm about to get my car tuned @ SGP tomorrow. My car currently has a JWT popcharger on it, but I have an AEM CAI sitting in a box. I was going to install it, but the guy that shipped me the intake forgot to put an o-ring in there and I won't have it until monday. If i put the AEM CAI after the dyno/tune, will that cause a loss of performance or mess anything up regarding the tune?? Any help w/ this is greatly appreciated - thx
If it at all affects the way that air flows over/through the MAF then yes it does change the tune. MAFs are overly sensitive, and you probably will need slight adjustments in fuel, not so much timing.
The whole point of a dyno tune is to get the most efficient performance from the motor, if you change hard parts you're kinda throwing it away. A street tune or an eTune won't be as accurate, and are generally cheap enough to just update the tune if it needs it when you change hard parts.
