Just take a regular photograph of it with a camera if you can't scan it in and save it as a jpg. 246rwhp on Rob's dyno is awesome - you should definitely feel the difference. Even more impressive is that it's through an automatic transmission, which has more drivetrain losses than a manual. I saw your dynos when I picked my car up last night.

Yup, I have a DE. I'll get my dynos up soon, but the car feels fantastic. I'll be running two autocrosses tomorrow, and the extra snappy power will force me to drive a little differently, but I'll manage.

Its been a while and frankly my car feels a bit down on power, but mine put down 282/264 on dynojet a while back. Similar bolt-ons to scott, but I run a 3" maf set-up. I actually made a little less than him prior to the larger maf housing/re-tune.

I can't really say man.....we also have the benefit over the CA folks in that we have 93/94oct gas which helps as well.

Depends on what you're referring to, as I've been tinkering with a lot of changes recently. Tuned, it made 259/242 with stock cats, then it bumped up to 266/250 after it was retuned with 2" test pipes. Then I bought the ART-version test pipes from MotorDyne and retuned it and it made 271/252. I did pick up significant power/tq below ~3200RPM. Not that I'm down there that often, but it is an additional advantage to complement that lack of rasp of the ART pipes.

Wow, that's good power. Did you document your 3" MAF set-up here anywhere? My tuner and I have been talking about changing from this silly Typhoon intake, so this may be good timing for that. I assume you had to totally redo your tune with the 3" intake.

I don't dick around with the crappy 91 octane, so I typically mix 100/91 or just run 100 since it's on the pump in a few places.

Alright. Basically there were 2/3 people before me that upgraded to the 3" maf set-up on bolt-on cars.....basically all 2/3 saw 4-6whp across the board. I originally decided to not do it, and got the car tuned with typical bolt-ons. Went in to the tuning session and put down 238whp on an uncorrected dyno dynamics....after the tune that number was 246whp. I was pleasantly surprised as stock 03 6mt makes 210-215whp on this dyno.

Well, I made it about 36 hours before I decided the hell with it and got the maf housing from z1 (no longer made though ). Then scheduled another appointment for a few days later with the same tuner/dyno, etc. There was about 9 days b/w my tune w/ and w/o the maf housing. In addition to the housing I coupled it with an 80mm Samco intake tube (looks almost stock). The variables in terms of temp, etc were as close as is possible (within 1 degree outside temp, similar humidity, etc). I didn't change the oil, clean the air filter, and it may have even been the same tank of gas (not sure about that though). The result of the next session shocked me.......262whp. Both after the initial 246whp dyno and 262whp I dyno'd on a local dynojet (sorry graphs are MIA)......after the first it was 268whp SAE and second 282whp. For some reason the differences were the same, but I attribute that to one being SAE and the other uncorrected. Any who, the gains were awesome, and the car pulled noticeably harder in 3rd and 4th gears.

After a few months the typical heatsoak associated with the pop charger.....logged a few pulls for IAT's and made a trip to Lowes. Basically I made a soft box out of pipe insulation, and noticed an immediate drop in temps (~20-25 degrees) in static traffic. It looks a little ridiculous, but it works and that's what matters too me. Later, I planned to buy 1cockyZ's lathed JWT pop charger velocity stack. I didn't, but a few days later I took mine and had it lathed by a machine shop to match the 80mm inlet of the z1 maf (the JWT is 76mm). Didn't really notice a difference, but it made me feel better . That's really about it.

*One thing to note is the car MUST be tuned with the change in maf housings.......it won't even hold idle.

Pic: (Kind of crappy, but the Samco is about 1-2" shorter than the stock tube and makes the JWT brace useless w/o bending.....I messed mine up and just zip tied it......I don't particularly care about aesthetics).

Dyno: (Ignore the bottom line....it was stock 03 on file, but is not mine and hence doesn't bare any significance). Top line everything at 262whp, middle line bolt-ons tune at 246whp(stock maf), and bottom was pre initial tune at 238whp. Also, on the 262whp tune, he let off at 6300 for reason on this pull....the final tune was +/- .2whp and power falls as is more typical to an 03 (not quite so dramatic).

What did you put down after initial install of the art pipes un-tuned for them specifically?

They do have a purpose i see, however im not sure if there is enough benfit for someone like myself to swap out my berk hfc's.

If the gains were consistent across the power band then its a different story.

Scott, if you want to give the same 3" MAF that Mike is using a try, you are welcome to use the one I have at Rob's place. I bought mine a while ago from Z1auto but they no longer make it (GTM does though). I also have a ported Apexi filter there as well if you want to borrow.

I should also note that no one has seen anywhere near the same results from this for some reason. At first I recommended it to several people, but after others so nominal gains I stopped. Still, the gains in my case were undeniable.

I don't want to jack this thread and I will be posting about it in the ART pipe thread and I'll make a post of my own, but here is the overall comparison of tuned test pipes to tuned ART pipes. The pick up of hp/tq down low is real, as multiple old runs had same power down low. That was always one of the drawbacks to the test pipes - loss of low end power - not to mention that rasp "bwwwwaaaaap" sound is gone. Keep a look out in the other ART posts for more discussion from me on my dynos.

Awesome - thanks for the write up. I'll have to try this out.

Awesome! Is it the complete kit? Rob really disliked my intake. I have a JWT from the wife's car that I was going to use, but I think this is a better and awesome option. I can't imagine picking up any more horsepower, though I'd graciously welcome it!

Keep in mind, like I said, that I am out of the ordinary in terms of power gains for that set-up......others have not seen such substantial gains. Its not a cheap set-up either....125 for the samco tube, 100 for the pop charger, 25 to machine the velocity stack, 125ish for the maf housing w/shipping. The duct was a cheapy from somewhere and the insulation cost was nominal. I think the art pipes are 600-700 as well. Plus the cost of a retune for the new maf housing.....won't be a cheap process to do both.
