Dave-

it is AMAZING what the user community has done for the STI and Evo..i wished our Nissan ecu was easy to crack...

they have a program called ECUflash software, which is basically freeware, and you just have to purchase an OBD2 reader with USB interface (approx $120-150 depending on where you get it) and you can actively change your own tunes/maps.. highly recommend those cars as far as self tuning capabilities... if you feel so inclined to do so.

i have a Cobb AP for my Evo X and it is quite easy to use, even off the shelf flash ROMs have significant improvement over the pig-rich factory maps.

Thanks Cheston. It's my understanding these turbo cars do leave a lot on the table in terms of tuning. My friend just picked up a new STI and says adding a tune picks up major power even with hardly increasing boost. He says the factory A/Fs are horrible. I may end PMing you about your experiences with the EVO X. Maybe you can put my mind at ease about buying a Mitsu product.

Well this sucks.. Looks like I'm going to have to get on Clark's *** about ROM tuning. We use(d) Technosquare heavily with our VQ swaps into the B15 chassis. It really was our only viable option. Clark has been tinkering around with this stuff, and I think he's close. So, plan on taking any and all of my TS ECU's, and sending them to him. Hopefully, it'll help..

Hopefully something can get worked out because the Maxima crowd (which is MUCH bigger than the G/Z crowd), relied heavily on the Techtom-based Technosquare flashes too. There's a lot of money to be made by someone that can so this tuning. I'm just surprised TS decided to get out of it because it seems like such easy money. Someone sends in the ECU, you apply the basic tune, send it back----$500. It really can't get any more gravy than that.

I've had some correspondence with AAM Competition and all they offer is flash tuning for the 04+ G series cars. Maximas and early G35 sedans are a no-go.

Guys, just get a Greddy E-Manage Blue if the flashes are no longer available. I picked-up a Blue for $400 and that was back in 2005.

It's not plug and play with my ECU harness. I also know nothing about tuning the car myself. I'm in Kansas City and local import tuners are not abundant.

Understood on the part about no local tuners but for the compatability, they do have patch harnesses which do make it in to plug-n-play rather than hacking wires. I used the patch harness.

For an early 03 G35 sedan with the "gray" ECU connector? Never heard of that. That's good news if there is.

I have an '04 Z. Are they the same connector?

That sucks to hear - I hope the family is ok and that the brother pulls through. Not too good for the socal tuning crowd - alot of bling builds are out there running these flashes. As far as other options - I'd be concerned about the lack of ECU control and resolution needed to w/ the remaining flashing options out there for high HP VQ's - I'd just drop in a haltech.

I don't think the 350Z ever got the odd ball maxima gray ecu connector.

The early 2003 G35 sedans really got jacked up in this regard. AFAIK, no one makes a plug and play patch harness for the early gray ecu G35 sedan to use with the UTEC, emanange etc...

If one was available, it would probably have to be sourced from a VQ35 maxima most likely

This is unfortunate to hear and I hope everything is okay. I was there this past summer and he installed my LSD and my 4.08 FD on my 07HR and it's worth it. I wanted to get the tune but decided to wait, and considering I have an HR my options are limited considering Cobb and TS are now out of the picture.

Ouch. I was wondering why my e-mails about another reflash weren't answered. They offered lower pricing for additional reflashes which was 1 reason I chose TS. Looks like I'll have to spend $600 again next time.

That is truly sad to hear. I'm assuming since the reflashes are gone, the ecu duplication went out the door with it...does anyone know what other company can offer this service?

I hope (wish) they find another engineer. I took my Z in for an oil change and the service tech accidentally cleared my reflash while removing my cel. FML. I wonder if someone there can upload the map from my last tune. Anyone know?

Clearing codes with a code scanner won't remove the reflash. It's way more involved than that, only a dealer using consultII could possible wipe your tune. If it's not running right and you had/have codes you've got other issues.

Thanks for replying.

The reason I feel my tune got cleared is because my car doesn't feel as powerful as did when I got it tuned. I remember the car taking off right away and breaking traction all the time and now it barely does it. Also, I remember Tadashi raised the rev limiter but now my car automatically shifts at redline when in D (unless the rev limiter is only raised in MT mode, in that case I'm mistaken).

try in MT mode and see what it goes up to-

also if you have an obd2 scanner (or get your hands on one) you can check throttle position sensor past 5k rpms when WOT. it it stays at 100% then you still have the flash.
