Right or wrong most 2JZ guys running a standalone are using AEM for tuning. Good luck. Looks like a fun project.

I hart you crazy Russians.

Is that a VVTI motor I see? Can't really tell from the second pic.
Do the mounts fit right into the crossmember? Looks like all you had to do was drill a new hole. Is there a v160 behind it?

Good luck. As much as I firmly believe in staying with one manufacturer for motor swaps, a 2JZ is just too sweet of a motor to pass up.

subscribed,

im in the same process on my 2jz33 drift build.
seemed like you did what i plan on doing.

the mounting points on the stock 2j engine mount bracket is off about 1 inch on each side, did you just notch the cross member to make the stock 2j mounts work?

also, im interested to see how you wire it up.
my z33 is just a bare shell, i dont plan on using any oem z inteior electronics, but i still have the body harness.

keep us updated,
thanks.
i plan on going stand alone via haltech pnp+custom engine wiring and racepak dash.

Very easy to see that's a VVTI engine.

I will be getting the engine and tranny in the upcoming two weeks, hopefully. Will make thread then.

I found a complete 2JZ-GTE + R154 for only $2200

I want to see what happened with the OP since he used the OEM 2JZ engine mounts.

Also, I have an insane idea

Thinking about cutting away the VQ35 bell housing and use the new JWT adapter to replace the original front sealing cover and bolt the R154 bell housing to the adapter to connect the 350z tranny to the 2JZ.

The 350Z & Infiniti G came with a very strong 6-Speed transmission that is starting to show up more and more at the auto recyclers, making for a reasonably priced option for other high-powered Nissans. Unfortunately, it sports an integrated bell housing, making this conversion difficult at best. By scrounging an automatic tranny bell housing from an automatic that was fitted to the same motor you are adapting to, this adaptor ties everything together. Either the 07+ 350Z Concentric Release Bearing or an aftermarket C.R.C. (Tilton) can be used. The no longer used VQ35 bell housing is cut away and the new adaptor replaces the original front sealing cover. This adaptor can mount a 6-Speed to a VG30DE(TT), SR20DE, KA24DE, or VH45DE engine. Adaptors for the VK56 and others will be available soon after the release of this adaptor. Contact Ben for release date or other information. 619 442-0680

R154 bellhousing bolt pattern:

Kinda close

We were talking about that very mod earlier in this thread actually! And I've gone over this with buddies of mine too.
I think it's do-able, and those pictures kind of confirm it too. Although you are probably better off not cutting anything and having a custom adapter made (for strength). You'll need a custom driveshaft anyway.

Nice find too btw! Now just get yourself a nice big precision billet and you are set!
