Default New to me 350z and some fcon questions

Hey everyone,

Just bought an 06 Z with a turbonetics single turbo kit a few days ago. The engine is controlled by an HKS Fcon V pro and I have all of the receipts to show the work was done professionally. However, I am having issues with the tuning. It runs great under heavy load, but the idle sometimes hangs at 2000rpm and its generally running AFRs in the low 11s/high 10s while cruising at even light loads. Having tuned engines myself in the past (megasquirt on my turbo 240sx and others) this AFR and high idle is completely unacceptable and is causing the gas mileage to be terrible even when driving gently and staying off boost and below 3k rpm. I've been doing all the reading I can over the past couple days and it seems that the HKS pro line of ECUs are all locked down. I'm guessing that this hasn't been cracked or circumvented, right?

I've emailed a few of the performance shops around here, but in case they can't work on fcons, has anyone swapped from the HKS to a UTEC or similar? Not being able to do my own tuning is going to drive me nuts coming from a Megasquirted car; had I known the HKS units were all locked I might not have bought this Z. I understand that the UTEC is not as nice as the HKS, but will I really be missing out on anything? Know of anyone who wants to trade a UTEC (plus some cash) for an FCON?

I agree, the whole point of a standalone is being able to modify the tune. If it's locked, it no better than a chipped stock ECU at the end of the day..

I know nothing about the Haltechs. I'll start reading up on them. What's your price?

Thanks

Most important question, is the Haltech OBDII compliant like the Fcon? This is in an emissions-controlled county. Everything else I'm reading looks good so far

I still read codes through the obdii port. Not sure if that means it is compliant.

Haltech is great for the end user, nice interface vs the others (proefi, fcon, utec)
Tons of features, proven reliable.
