Hey everyone, had a question for the tuners on this page. I recently had the timing advanced 2 degrees using the Nissan Consult device. The car is a bonestock 2008 nismo 350z w/just drivetrain mods and runs on 91 octane. The drive after the timing was advanced was much better. Throttle response was improved in the lower end of the rpm's as well as the mid-upper rpm's compared to the stock timing. One tuner advised that I back out the timing 1 degree. Another buddy of mine here Midnight6 increased his timing +5 degrees on full bolt ons and had no issue for 2 years. Lastly, I didn't feel any hesitation in the motor or a loss of power. It was a very linear, progressive pull. My question though is regarding detonation. I know the hr motors have the knock sensors on them, but is this really pushing the motor to the point of detonation on the stock tune? Thanks guys!

 

You can't advance timing past +2 on consult / cipher.

 

^^ thought of the same thing.. consult cannot advance your timing.
