HKS V pro (2 step)
I have a copy of the HKS instructions for doing this. PM me your e-mail address and I'll send it to you.
Here are quick instructions for implementing two-step for automatic control (i.e., without using an external scramble switch):
I. You first need to make sure you have a speed input signal going to the Speed Sensor Input on the F-CON. On my version 3.24 F-CON VPro it is pin 58 (orange wire). You will have to look up the wiring diagram for your factory ECU to see which pin on the ECU outputs the speed signal. You might be able to tap it off the wire going to your speedometer.
II. In the PowerWriter software:
a. Open "Inside Switch Setting(s)" under the "Setting(s)" menu. For "Switch 1 input", select the "Pull-Up" radio button.
b. Open the "Parameter 1" settings and go to the "Basic2" tab. Enter the "Number of Speed Signal Pulse". You may have to play with this so that when you are moving at a constant speed the F-CON shows the correct speed. I have mine set to "2", which ended up being the correct value for my 2003 VQ35DE. I left the "Speed Signal Adjustment Rate" at "100%". If the F-CON does not quite show the correct speed, you can play with the "Speed Signal Adjustment Rate" to dial it in.
c. In the "Parameter 1" settings go to the "Control" tab. For "Switch Input" "SW1" select "Ignition Cut" from the drop down menu.
d. In the "Parameter 1" settings go to the "Ignition 2" tab.
1. Enter your normal Ignition Cut RPM (e.g., 7200 rpm)
2. Enter your Switch Ignition Cut RPM (e.g., 3500 rpm)
3. Select the "Speed Input - On" check box.
4. Enter the number of "counts" for the "Ignition Cut Time Out Speed Pulse Number". I have mine set to "4". Higher numbers seem to cause the rev limiter to kick in a little when I am actually moving in 1st gear and don't want it to kick in. On a previous F-CON VPro I had it was set higher, to something like "10", but this F-CON acts a little differently for some reason.
5. Enter the "Ignition Cut Compensation". I have mine set to "-35" degrees.
That should be it. You can use an external scramble switch that the user can use to adjust the two-step RPM. The instructions I can send you explain how to set that up. Essentially, you plug the scramble switch into the black port on the F-CON. Under "Switch input" in the "Control" tab, you set "Scramble SW" to "Ignition Cut" instead of doing so in "SW1." In this case, I think you leave the "Switch 1 input" "Open" in the "Inside Switch Setting(s)" under the "Setting(s)" menu.
