New to the 350Z world. Just purchased a 2008 touring with very low miles. When pushing the TCS button, the traction control would not turn off. Pulled the plastic dash piece down and discovered that the TCS switch had simply been unplugged, problem fixed. Now for the mystery.... It became clear that some sort of module had been added on under the dash, and I don't know what it is, and trying to decide if I should leave it in, or take it out??? No particular markings other than some numbers, I googled those and got nothing. It is a little black box 3.5"x 2" x 1" that has a harness plug which sandwiches between the factory OBD harness and the OBD connecter, has a flashing light on it, power appears to be supplied to it, and it has what appear to be (2) optical cables that hook to it and disappear way up inside the dash?? Says something about a Modem, and has an FCC ID, so must send out some sort of wireless signall as well. Tuning module???,
No Nav screen, just not sure what it is, or if I should just take it out. Pic of it below. popped the cover on it and it has a GPS chip in it, maybe some sort of data logger?? Any way, think it's just getting pulled out.
