Default UPREV Blues... No longer able to turn of DTC codes by Law

So after wondering where the heck the DTC portion on my ROM file went to trying to disable some codes, I realized upon reading the Titan forums that UpRev has banned the DTC disabling function until further notice.

http://www.titantalk.com/forums/tita...ge=1&_k=spwk2g

Quoting from a member there, he explained:

"This is all thanks to the EPA for threatening massive fines and potential criminal charges against Uprev for "encouraging and enabling" people to circumvent federal emissions laws."

Not sure if anyone was aware of this, i searched the forum and found nothing on this topic. UpRev may be in hot water Atm...

This is true. If they haven't already anyone who has the tuner version will lose the ability to disable DTC's if they update their software. They are working on a solution that allows them to bring it back, but for now its gone

Yea I have the tuner version and cable and do my own tuning to an extent. Was trying to turn off my rear o2 sensor codes since I installed longtube headers on my Z, guess that's not happening anytime soon.

So a full standalone engine management is the next step?

Thank God tax season is coming, I guess I may have to invest in a Haltech in the future to avoid headaches with reflashing the oem ecu with Uprev.

Link still good for me, I just used it. Maybe because I am on my phone. May be something with your PC or whatever device you Are using.

Yea if your ECUs ROM is already flashed and not updated than you have nothing to worry about. If you reflash it you will loose all disabled DTC functions.

I'm guessing if I disable wifi it will be fine. My uprev hasn't been updated in months so I still have an older version. If you don't update nothing should change.

should have avoided Uprev from the get go. No map tune, no safe guards...pain in the but to flash/tune. No gauge integration...i call it suckRev.

I understand what you mean, however paying 775+ shipping instead of over 2k imho seems like a logically good buy for tuning a basic Bolton or basic FI setup Z, when you venture into more power and a custom setup that becomes more complicated, going farther that the oem ecu can handle, then IMO Haltech is the way to go. I've enjoyed UpRev until this happened and really didn't complain since this is the first EFI software I used to learn to tune myself.

I'm running an Innovate wideband sensor and UpRev can integrate that for data logging, that's it lol.

Yes, don't update your ROM editor and Osiris software and you will be fine. If you already updated the software from last year Nov, it's too late. The DTC function will be already removed.

Correct. There is no way for Uprev to forcefully push updates so as long as you don't update it you're fine. Rom Editor usually prompts you to check for updates when you open it but just click no.

Ran into this, when getting tuned. Still happy with my tune though. I get lights for Cats every now and then. I usually reset it myself no big deal.

Here's a link to an older ROM editor exe that shouldn't have that stuff disabled, incase you updated accidentally. I think you should be able to just replace the app file.

Thanks for sharing. But how about upgrading the cable firmware, Does this have any effect or was it only disabled in ROMeditor.exe ?

No idea. I just don't update it unless it forces it. Pretty sure it's just the executable. You could create a copy folder and replace the exe in that one, run it and see if those functions are back.

Its a bad idea to go along with it when the federal govt forces you to do something?

Its called the tuner version because you can tune yourself.. no restrictions on that.

They've only raised the price ONCE in the history of the company, and that's been over a year ago now. Its called inflation. When every year their employees want to get paid more, their rent increases, taxes go up... how are they supposed to keep the price the same forever?? How much was your salary in 2005 vs 2016?

You seem like a really smart guy
