Default cylinder missfire

Hi guys. 2003 highly modified twin turbo with Unichip tuneable ECU. Missfire on one cylinder, just dropped out one day, ok next day then dropped out full-time. No engine light.
Is there an easy way to short the coil plug combo to identify which cylinder is missing? With no engine light on, will an OBD II reader be able to identify the cylinder?
Once I have the correct cylinder, I plan to work my way thru the plug, coil, leads and injector to find the problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

An easier way as opposed to disconnecting the coils one-by-one to hear the difference? As far as detecting which cylinder is giving the misfire through the OBD II scanner; any misfire in the cylinders will create a lean condition in the O2 sensors on that side..

Hey thanks for that! I'll knock up a pipe stethoscope and give it a try.

Well, beats me! Both of us tried a plastic pipe as a stethoscope but we couldn't pick which cylinder was out. They all sounded the same. You can hear the miss in the exhaust, but because it's a crossflow one I can't even pick which side it's on. Looks like I'll have to dismantle the top and start fiddling with the coils to try and isolate it!

Did it the hard way. Number six looked the easiest to get at, so pulled the coil, tested it and found it dead. Replaced it and everything is now sweet. I still think there must be an easier way to test coils in situ!!
