shift pop reflash?
Good morning everyone, just sent my ECM to Z1 for a cruise control reflash and had them add ARC as well. I was wondering while in flatfoot shifting mode if I would get a shift "pop" with that reflash? If so bonus, if not how do I add it?? Thanks for looking and as always...........have a believable day!...................-Curtis
I believe all the features have to be setup, as long as you request them you should get them. Most here including me are against exhaust combustion, not a good thing for the car on the regular. Why didn't you get the cable and e-tune?
I'm a long time wrencher but a rookie 350Z owner. I didn't know about the things you mentioned and Z1 didn't really give up any additional info. They answered my questions, but that's about it.
I'll give you some insight as to why I am against pops, flames, etc. and how my experience went with Z1.
I bought my Uprev basic and cable from them which comes with an E-tune, took the logs sent them over and got my E-tune file back.
I load it up and felt zero difference, if anything it felt worse, I contact them about it and got nothing back.
Fast forward I installed dual widebands and went for a drive, my car was running pretty rich, at WOT the car was reaching 10s and even into the 9s while shifting.
I contacted Admin and got a remote tune from him, even his "base" map was miles ahead of what I got from Z1, the car felt and sounded so much better and only got better from there.
Because of this I don't use Z1 unless I am buying a product with their name on it (they actually care about those) or OEM, I had a simple question about brake pads and they could not even answer that for me lol.
Now about the pops, it is literally spraying fuel in your exhaust so it combusts in your exhaust to make that noise, which in turn will damage your cats and mufflers if you have them, it literally serves NO purpose and has no pros, so you make your choice on that one.

One more thing, it should go without saying but there is ZERO purpose for having ARC without a tune. The tune will do far more for you that ARC ever will, this is why I always recommend getting the cable so you can reflash any time you need instead of having to send out the ECU.
Again, this is all virgin ground to me and I appreciate the education. I agree that the backfire serves no purpose besides noise so I won't go down that road I guess. I probably forgot an important point about my ECM work. I told Z1 that I intended to very soon install test pipes and a catback and I'd like to have the tuning to sorta match. Man I talked with said that it may be slightly rich until the mods are done but should be ok. After putting processor back in, went for a short test drive to check cruise control function and it does not. I am not gonna blame anyone but myself about that yet because there is a good possibility that I don't have the pedal switches adjusted properly. On the drive my butt dyno didn't really feel anything but I was only in the car about 10 minutes so we'll see. I have so many questions about tuning, cables, flashes, all kinds of stuff and I don't know who to ask.
Well, you can ask here. Yeah so you were trying to get a tune more or less, which is good. I'm assuming if you sent it out there isn't anyone near you that can flash using Uprev?
If that is the case I'd buy the cable like I did and get a proper remote tune once the parts are on.
If you aren't familiar with the process you can look it up on YouTube, it is fairly easy.
There are quite a few people that do good remote tunes like Specialty Z, Admin and others.
Lastly I'm going to assume you have a 07+ Z?

Talked to Z1 today and they told me that my ECM worked fine in a factory cruise control equipped car. Couldn't find anything wrong with connectors or anything else, and since all the related hardware I added is new OEM from Nissan not to mention that the harness for such has never been used, I can't imagine what is going on. I guess I'm back to square one in a dark corner.
I know where you are going. I'm gonna put it back in when I get it back and see what happens, maybe it miraculously fixed itself.

Not sure what part of IN. you're from, these guys are about as good as it gets:

Not sure what their price structure is now, Uprev dyno tune was 700 bucks.

Peace,
