Val,

As Giles says - if it was a technical issue - it would of been sorted a long time ago. Unfortunately as I keep saying - its a non technical issue.

Accordingly when the forum is reopened - some tighter controls will be inplace with regards to both content (banter is fine) and members.

We do appreciate the forum being down is inconvenient but its being done by us deliberately for everyones benefit.

I think the reason why alot of people are ****ed off is because of the lack of information, i understand that there are things that carn't be discussed openly but putting the the stupid remarks from some people to bed would help.

We have taken the forum down for non-technical reasons - it will be re-enabled shortly - hopefully sometime today - but I cant promise that because things are ongoing as I type.

I think we should all pause and say thanks to squeaky for clearly working pretty hard to put whatever it is that is wrong right. Given how busy we hear he is, I think we are all lucky that he is willing to put this time into it.

Would like to find out why at some point though

To be honet Rick when you said "We know we just carnt say" was a bit stupid
as this puts you apart from everybody else, it's the members that make it a great site.

No - nothing of the sort - I am not prepared to say why the site is down at this time - I am purely pointing out that the idiots claiming its through bad admin etc are talking crap. We know why the site is down - and its not because of technical problems.

What do you want me to say ???? The site is down I have no idea why ?????

Rick, i think it's only ONE person which keeps saying it's because of technical problems, everyone else is pretty clear it isn't technical, going on what you have been saying.

And i think we should just chill, when the issues have been sorted, the site will be back up. Simple!! And if we are told why it was down then fair enough, and if not, then also fair enough.. It's not being done on purpose!!

I second that

Squeeks has more than likely given up a large chunk of his bank holiday weekend trying to sort things out for us guys. I'm sure other mods have also given up their time to assist where they can. Let's not forget this guys.

I miss the forum as much as the next man, had to chat to the mrs for the last 3 days instead but the site has (so far) been free and we can't really winge on about it being down. I'm sure it is, only because it needs to be. It will be back, when it's back.

p.s. Get a shift on

p.p.s. Make it a private members club, charge us 20 quid to gain access to it, then we can do what the **** we like.

I feel that I probably speak for the majority of UK members when i say that I think the mods have always had the site's best interests at heart, and put a lot of their own time and effort into the site and UK zedding in general.

Rick, Giles, etc,

Sorry to hear of the non-technical problem with the UK site.

While from the limited info you've been able to give it's obvious you can't say too much, it would be nice ( as someone else previously posted ) if the UK site could be temporarily re-directed to a static html page with some sort of vague message.

Although a few people know about this site, there will be lots and lots who don't, and who will still have no idea what's up. It would be good PR going forward if you tried to keep everyone informed ( obviously within the bounds of what you can and can't say ). The other option may be for the Administartor ( ie Squeaks ) to send a quick eMail to all members - I think the software allows that ??

The other thing is to try not to raise expections - originally yesterday it was "should be back in a few hours", then "later this evening", now this morning it was "should be later today". Might be better to say the truth, ie not sure how long it will be before current issues are resolved, we are trying to get it back as quickly as possible, etc, etc.

Please take the above as constructive criticism, not a FFog style moan.

Would be nice to see the UK site back with a lot less personal insults flying around - while I appreciate it is all in jest, and a lot of it very funny,it can get a bit tiresome when reading a thread about something supposedly automotive, to get pages and pages of absolute drivel.

I note that squeaky is now on here. I wonder if perhaps he could give us a more definitive idea of when we might be back up and running.
