Motor Trend's drag race #2
#21
I work for Motor Trend and was there for the entire BDC program including the drag race. Everyone on every outlet this is posted asks "Where was blank?". So I'll answer that question at least for my friends here on my350z.
If you think we're missing a car, there's a reason. No ZR1 because it was there like three years ago and hasn't been significantly changed since then. When the C7 vette arrives you can bet your bottom it will be there. No Ford GT because it's old, no Koenigsegg/Pagani/Gumpert etc because those cars are impossible to get from the manufacturer. That's actually why most of the cars people ask about aren't there, we just can't get them.
The M5 for example, we wanted one, badly, but BMW just refused. Same with Ferrari. We invited the 458 back to defend its title last year, and Ferrari just wasn't interested (they don't need the press).
So it's either a matter of not fitting the criteria (new for that model year or significantly changed), or the manufacturer just isn't ready to give us a car to participate.
Oh and whoever says we need to get off the BRZ bandwagon.. you need to get ON it and drive one. That car is every bit as good as everything you've read.

But let's be honest, it would have been cool to see the new Huayra and F12 in there!

At WOT the GTR has a great exhaust note....stock revving I agree is on the weaker side.I like the fact they are doing drag races of this volume. I guess I'd like to see more cars that are on the road.

The GTR still makes me proud. Pulled on the more powerful GT500 like it was nothing. I can hear the "good ol boys" crying with their excuses.
Looks like the BRZ beat the C63 off the line...on Prius tires.

2. MP4-12C: 10.8@130.7

Just the fact that it won by .5 and trapped within less than 1 whopping mph with a 120hp deficit with an engine 2 liters smaller. Although the price of the GT500 makes it a horsepower bargain of the century.

I am really a big fan of Motor Trend putting on these races. They are very fun and cool to watch. Yes I was disappointed to not see a few cars in there that I though should be in there, but I do understand that lining up some of these cars for an event like this is no easy feat. I loved the first as well as the second and I can't wait for the third!
Thanks,
Dallin
