Default My AEM Dual Intake Review

First Off, if you decide to get these intakes, do yourself a big favor and take the strut bar off!!! The passenger side intake was a breeze to fit, but the drivers side was hell with the strut bar in place...I scratched the intake tubing a little trying to hurry instead of taking my time and doing it right.. But the instructions were pretty clear and it went smoothly after I finally came to my senses and took it off to finish the install...After the install I hooked the battery back up and let the car idle for 15+ minutes so the ecu could relearn the maps and also to check for a CEL and what not...

Performance/Sound wise, the throttle response actually seems to be slightly better over stock, HP/TQ wise, I won't comment because I doubt I gained no more than 5-6 Hp if that....( I could be wrong though)... The sound is pretty much stock just cruising, but once you get on WOT, they roar!!! I was hoping for this since I don't drive the car hard all the time so it gets loud when I want it to..

Final thoughts, I know many people here still won't spend this much money on "Tubes and a Filter", but I will say that AEM did a good job on the design of not only the intakes, but the heatsheild as well...Anyone who has a new Z, go out and feel your stock rubber intake tube after you have driven it for a little while...It gets hot to the touch and I mean HOT!!! After I installed the AEM's, I drove to a friends house, about 40-45 mins. away and opened the hood when I arrived at his house...I felt the intake tube on the drivers side, close the the TB and it was warm and not hot at all...So, it seems that the heat shields do the job from the heat coming off the radiator...If you have the extra cash and are in the market for intakes for the HR, I highly recommend these intakes!!! On a side note, I heard that the nismo's are going to be manufactured by AEM again, but it could be a rumor...I plan to have pics up this Friday when I get my Digital Camera back from a friend...Hope my review helps!!

Those look sweet and right now are my first choice with an intake but I would like to see someone get them on a dyno first.

I love it. HKS style design. Sounds deeper and is affordable. Do a search for it and you will get tons of info.

What heat shield? I see one to the side of the filter, but that doesn't block any heat coming up from the exhaust sides of the engine!

No thanks. Stillen still looks like the best route to go.
