As a guy who's car came with factory VLSD, I can tell you first hand there is zero comparison - it completely transforms the car for the better and does not give any of the typical VLSD issues (esp. on track)
+1 on that Adam.
I have experienced No LSD, Nismo LSD, Vlsd, and finally the Quaife.
First the price is less than 2k even installed. The gains are fair better than 90% of the other mods you will do with your car. The Quaife has been just great and I would recommend that one for anyone with a Base model because there is just less overall parts to buy.
The three that Adam stated are by far my favorite ones. I have first hand experience with all three, and I have to say that you cannot go wrong with any of those.
Nismo was a bit too loud for me. The clunking etc made me just cringe when I knew I was approaching a slow turn or getting ready to park the car.

I also have a base, its a DD. I do some "spirited" driving here and there, what are the pro's and cons of the Nsmo LCD or anything other LCD for that matter? Is it anything like traction control? Forgive me for the noob questions.
i was under the impression that if you bought the nismo lsd you had to buy a few otehr things that made the price go up fast, where if you buy the Q they have a kit that includes all.
I have heard that the nismo makes noise. BUT for us drag guys, what would be the best option?

NISMO comes with everything needed for a base, but yes, it is the noisiest of all the aftermarket diffs
A Quaife is a drop in replacement for a base model, and is the quietest of the bunch - not the ideal diff for road racing IMHO, but a good all around performance upgrade and it works seamlessly

I just got the carbonetic diff installed in an 07 base model and the stub axles had to be replased cuz the base model/open diff has different stub axles than the vlsd equipped vehicles. Just figured i would warn anyone thats planning on going this rout so its not sitting in pieces while you order stub axles from the dealer!
Dont remember the part numbers for axles but Andy at performance nissan could assist if you need them.
