Default My 07/08 Engine Cover whatcha think?

Took off my engine cover but I didn't like the way the plastic plenum looked.

So last night I started on a cover that is similar to the Greddy TT kit cover, I am in love with everything in this picture.

So here is my picture of the started project, I have about 3-4 hours into it so far. I had to make a template, then covered it in fiberglass, and am about 75% done with sanding and then I will either paint it chrome silver or make a CF version.

Let me know what you think, I really can't wait to make a carbon fiber version of this if I decide to go that route.

interesting mounting location for your carputer, but don't you think it'll be too hot in the engine compartment?

Just joking, I wish I knew how to do custom work, keep up the good work

I like Dr. Pepper...

Anways, If yo ucan get it to look like the Greddy engine cover...then that'd be amazing! But as it is now, the stock one looked nice....but of course, youre not even closed to being finished.

Post more pics and updates when you can!

Hey thanks for the nice comments, the only thing I wish I could do with this engine cover is somehow recess the two nuts on the backside of the cover like the stock one, it sounds kind of strange i know lol. This is what I will be doing tommorow as well as finishing it up.

one question though, will your cover allow you to still use the strut tower bar?

couldn't you just put a small conical cylinder of styrofoam in that area and build it into the mold (are you goingg to mold on top of from the bottom, assuming the bottom this should work fine, just put some foam (maybe high density foam) and then cover it with quick set joint compound for a couple coats to seal it from the resin.

Ummm... that's not an engine cover. It's an entire replacement plenum (the GReddy one)

I don't think its a new plenum, if you look at this pic you can see the factory plenum is still used.

Also note the stock engine cover on a "kitted" engine.

I'm planning on doing something similar to this.
