Default Plenum Spacers for the 08' 350z...are there any?

hey guys,
i know they def. make plenum spacers for 350z's. unfortuanatly i havent found any for the 2008. i noticed that you have to buy a MREV 2 Manifold TM for the revup engines. anyways, i think i have bit of a problem understanding this becuase of the air intake ports. there are two in my car 08' but the 06' and under only have one. if there are two in my car then the MREV wont be compatable with my 08' will it? and i really want this mod.
all i want is some added power for the price of a plenum spacer etc. i cant find it. i really dont need input about other mods, i just want this one specifically. thanks -john

Welcome to the forum John,
I think you're going to have a hard time getting an answer since your statements are contradicting. At first it sounds like you would take any mod that makes power as long as it were for the price of a plenum spacer:

But then you say you don't want to hear about any other mods other than a plenum spacer:

I can tell you the dual intakes and redesigned plenum of the 08 would not benefit from a spacer. You can be comfortable knowing that your car came with the plenum mod "built in" from the factory or start exploring other options...

wow, thats the best way i've seen this explained to a n00b that the hr doesn't need a plenum spacer... cause for some reason they can't seem to understand when you just simply state that it doesnt need one...

we should make a pop up every time someone click on the hr forum that says: the HR engine does NOT need a plenum spacer, it already has one "built in"

but then again, we run the risk of: "can i put the stock hr plenum spacer on my de???"

:tiphat: thanks milky...

Sometimes threads like these make me want to get into the aftermarket business since people just seem to want to throw money at their rides sans logic. Then I remember what a-holes we all are and stick with my day job.

There is no need to do anything to the plenum..... as said before it is very efficent.... I know you said about the same price, but you didn't want to hear about other mods well..... ask a dumb question. Anyways tests pipes will give a good gain on the HR.... it will still give power w/ stock exhaust, but an exhaust will open it up also..... have fun modding!!!

yea, i didnt have much sleep when i was writing the question. anyways, thanks for telling me that they pretty much have a plenum spacer built in...but if so, why wouldnt the horses be higher than the 03-06 models? the claimed 306 horses. cuase it seems to me that plenum spacers are suppose to add somewhere around 15 horses. so wouldnt that make the 07-08 models 321hp by nissan standards? just throwing out ideas. thanks

Don't get caught up in the numbers, particularly peak output. One reason, the SAE made the rating methodology for HP and Torque more strict in 2005. Nissan adopted the new standards shortly thereafter negating the published gains that otherwise would have showed up.

Just look at the comparison sample of verified drag times for stock Z's for proof of a power increase: https://my350z.com/forum/3035974-post7.html

i could be wrong but i'm pretty sure 03-06 is 291hp, 07+ is 306hp

306-291=15hp difference...i'm just sayin...

as stated before, the standard of testing changed just as the hr came out. if you look at the dyno numbers (dynojet) the hr is consistantly about 20 more whp than the de's, stock for stock.

the same bolt-on's typically gain more power on an hr than a de. but the only intakes to make power on the hr (thats known and proven) are the injen cold air intakes.

Actually the 2003-2005 had 287, 2006's had 300, and 2007-2008 have 306. With the exception for 2005, which the 35th anniversary Z had the 300HP rev-up.

That's not entirely correct. The 2003-2006 models were rated using SAE Net Horsepower. 2007+ are rated SAE certified Horsepower.

Typically the VQ35HR dynos ~20whp more than an equivalently modded non-revup DE. Assuming 15% drivetrain loss, that converts to roughly 24hp crank. You can add that 24hp to the 287 for the DE, to estimate the HR crank hp on old standard, or subtract the 24 from the 306 of the HR for an estimate of the DE on the new standard.

It's not a perfect conversion, but it gives an idea.

If we can put a man on the moon we can certainly make a plenum spacer for illiam.cras.
