how exactly would one get to the VTC solenoids? i've never dug into a vq before (well, exhaust, but that doesn't really count...)

( yes is drink motul for breakfast.... )
Thats what i've been arguing all this time.... theres no way such a high established and reputed oil could immediately cause such a noticeable problem and so many people still use it.

From what was pointed out @ nissan they are somewhere in this area:

Smile Seriously?

All of you gear heads and not one answer. Ok so im not a Nissan tech and i dont know **** about your VQ35"s but my girls got one so i take pretty damn good care of it. im a technician for Porsche in Naples. anyway, so i did some contemplating and some research from old books from Auto Class, I am most posotive the 03 944's (Porsche) have the same problem. Dirty o2 sensors. Your upgraded pipes are making less back pressure causing carbon to pass through your old sensors more quickly. None the less the lack of the other 2 Cats. If your even running any. check your o2 sensors get back to me, if thats not the problem then whatever. i tried, just get a Porsche you wont have that problem. our tech know what were doing. HAA!!

Typo

Ok no the 944 started in 86, and the last 944 was made in the year of 89 but in Europe they were enjoyed through 1991. The 86 through 89 944 had an 8 valve SOHC inline 4, with aluminum head and block. It had 217 horses but in 89 they bumped it up to 247. That was a lot, in terms would be 15 pounds per horse. Thats pretty damn good. They were 5 speeds, had MacPherson struts with lower A-arms, coil springs, tube shocks, anti-roll bar
and in the back, Semi-trailing arms, torsion bars, tube shocks, anti-roll bar. So it handled well too, nice controllable oversteer with power makes it a fun car. And it wasnt bad on gas for the time, about 19 mpgs around town. 0-60 in 5.5 secs did the quarter in 13.5, and topped out at 165. I know my Porsches do you know your nissans? that goes to every one.

dude...

how about you spend a couple of days reading through threads on this forum? there are people on here much more knowledgeable on our Z33 platforms than you on your porsches. You just wasted a few minutes of your life typing stats about your porsches that any one of us could have googled in seconds if we cared, that is, if we didn't already know.

Spend some time reading through the threads. 99.9% of your questions will be answered if you do so. Then learn to use search on here. You have a post count of a mere 8, and seeing some of your other posts, I can tell you that it will be very hard for some of the truly knowledgeable veterans on here to take you seriously and devote their time to answering your questions and contributing to any of your threads.

Perception is everything, especially among thousands of car enthusiasts on a forum. Please read up a bit before you post anything else so you wont be perceived as a tool.

You've made quite the entrance to the site - may want to slow your roll a bit. Rather than bore everyone with useless 944 stats (yes, I know Porsche's nearly as well as my Z's), there is a great site called GOOGLE - type it into your browser and search Porsche 944 stats and you'll find all the correct info you could ever want. This way, the next time you make useless posts on an enthusiast website, at least you'll be posting accurate info. If you are here to learn about the car, that's all good, welcome and use the site wisely. If you're here to show us all you don't know about Porsche's, then good luck as well....because I think your knowledge is already impressing us.

Umm. . . Yes.

The real questions are -
1. How do YOU say "PORSCHE"?
2. Now, uh, Mr. Porsche, being an expert on Porsche automotive knowledge, can you tell me... what would the correct ignition timing be on a 1955 356 with the 79 cubic-inch engine and a Zenith dual barrel carburetors? How far can it be advanced without taking on much risk?

Firing order is 1432 and at stock they run at 5 BDC but i have no clue what a risky advancement would be. and Porsche is pronounced ( por-sha )

I didnt say I knew everything, just arguing the fact that I see no legit reply's from actual technicians. ok maybe they're legit and some are techs. im just disappointed in what little I found about usable information of the engines and chassis while searching through all the threads. Not "all' obviously.

Most owners advanced them to up to 40^ without issue, and a sweet spot around 38^ BTDC. The timing advance was required for more power so the 356 could compete with the Ferraris and Jaguars it was racing against that had a lot more displacement compared to little 356.

Cool, I was unaware of that. Learn something new everyday! On a Nissan site too, haha.
