I'm not running the Cusco anymore actually, I've switched to a Quaife now with my new final drive setup. When I ran the Cusco, I found the Motorcraft 75w140 worked best for me (@60% lock). I got it from our local autoparts store, on the recommendation of a customer/friend who is a tech for a Ferrari Challenge team.

We have the OS Fluid - IIRC it's around $45 a bottle, but I can check Monday

Question about the gears:

Does Nissan make a car that carries the 4.08 gears from factory?

You can pickup the gears relatively cheap if you shop around. I think I paid $450 for mine from the dealer or less. I'd have to check my reciepts. But yes they are just Frontier gears.

I also own an '08 Frontier CC and the gears when I purchased it were an option.

I was just wondering if the OS Giken is what you carry and in your description of the OS Giken you say the difference is in the details. Then why would you put the Quaife in your own car? Is the Quaife better? I like the Quaife name but OS Giken is almost a household also. So which is better? Why?

Nevermind, I read around on some posts and have answered my own question....Thanks though

we carry all of them

Carbonetics, ATS, Drexler, Cusco, OS Giken, Quaife, NISMO Kaaz, etc etc

This time I just decided to use something different, and I had a Quaife on the shelf that was opened and returned to us, so I used it

Carbonetics 1.5 way is another good one. I can't hear a thing with it using their own brand of fluid. I also have this and the 4.08 installed on my '07 base.

Default OS Giken + 4.08

What's up guys, recently bought an OS Giken, some Redline fluid, and 4.08 fd. I haven't put it in yet, but my car is an '03 base, and I can't wait to see how it goes around corners after the swap. I'm also probably going to go with some solid bushings in the rear end just to tighten things up a bit. I'll let ya know what I think! Other mods are all the bolt ons; short intake, 5/16 iso thermal spacer, headers, HFCs, and HKS Hi-power exhaust. Right now I'm running 275/40-18s in the back and 265/40-18s in the front, so we'll see if I have any traction issues. If I do, I might be up-sizing the tires sooner than I thought. Oh, and the tires are Sumitomo HTR Z IIIs...could definitely go stickier.. Anyway, I'll let ya know my results, and my plans are to get a Vortech in about a year's time.

Are you guys recommending a LSD when doing gears because the car is prone to spin more? What exactly is say a 1.5 way doing different then the stock LSD in the 350z?

Quick question guys. I've read a few more threads about this and from what I've read is that everyone who has done this gear ratio swap used the 4.08 gear ratios from a 2006 Frontier for a 370z rear differential. I believe the gear rations I have came out of a 2005 Frontier. Can anyone verify if the 2005 ring and pinion will work with the 370z swap ? I have a 2004 Base Manual 350z and the rear diff from the 370z is also a manual so I know it will fit. I took it to a rear differential specialist and he said he couldnt fit the 4.08 ring and pinion into the 370z rear diff. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

then you sorta answered your own question no?

either you don't have the right ring and pinion, or you don't have a pumpkin from a manual transmission 370Z.

Great topic.

I'm about to get the LSD for my base 07Z and have couple concerns.

1. Should I get the 4.08 Gear as well. I'm NA and plan to stay NA for a while. I heard it's not good when you go FI. I don't see FI in the near future as I'm still working on my driving skill, for now.
2. The car will be used on Track and Drift practices, so what kind of LSD do I need? I was leaning toward Quaife but was told to go with OS Giken as 1.5-way configuration?

Thanks,
