soon i will be buying a 2003+z. plan is a boosted ls1 and 4l80e.

before i get started on that project i was wondering if i should have some fun with the stock stuff or is it worth enough money that i dont want to just kill it.

how much power can the stock engine handle if i just start pushing a wet shot thru it?

how much power can the stock auto tranny handle?

how much is the stock engine worth?

the car will end up an auto but if i was to buy a stick for starters how much will the council and shifter from an auto cost me. i will want the inside of the car to remain as stock looking as i can.

if i did go that route how much power can the stock 6 speed and clutch handle? how much is the stock 6speed worth?

thanks for any help i can get. my thoughts are stick some dr's on the car and hit it with a wet shot. start with a 75shot and work my way up. i will run good fuel once i get over a 100shot and watch the wideband. if the motor is worth $2k i likely wont want to waste it but if they are only worth a few hundred i might as well have some fun with it.

 

got another one. do people ever sell these cars with a blown up engine? i would love to save some money on a car with mechanical issues but i dont want to get one that has cosmetic issues.

 

Engine+tranny can handle 800+whp with a good tune and running on butane. Even after you act like a redneck and blow it up,the drive train is worth atleast 7k.and it will be covered by nissans warruntee!! Why you want to swap in the wimpy ls1? Swap in a screaming k20 wiff NAZ!!!!! and drive it into a wall. Please....... And no, nobody has ever sold a z with a blown motor due to overboost or anything of the nature. Never has happend.


Lol sorry just search bud! 400 whp is considered "safe". If i were you i would pull the motor and tranny and post it for sale on the forum. Lots of people looking to pick up stock motor to build on the side for future use. Check out hinson super cars, they make a swap kit for LS motors to fit Z's. Im waiting untill after my upcoming deployment to slap in a zex wet kit for my Z and run a 75 shot. Oh and welcome to My350z!!!!
